I thought this book would be cute, but it is not. It almost seems like mom and the neighbor man are having an affair, it doesn't really make a huge point or any cute message about tattoos. don't waste your money

Over the past couple of years so many of my friends, tattooed friends, have gotten married and had babies. Not only is this book absolutely adorable, but it teaches children about tolerance of others. You can't help but love James and root for him to overcome his fear of the tattooed man! It's about time a book like this was written and I know EXACTLY what all MY friends are getting for Christmas!!

"Mommy Has a Tattoo" is a wonderfully colorful, beautifully drawn book geared for all kids who have a tattooed loved one in their life! It tells the story of a cute toddler named James who is scared of his tattooed neighbor until he finds out that his mommy has a tattoo, as well. My son, Gavin (age 2 and a half) loves this book and as his tattooed mommy, I love it, too-- It encourages acceptance, imagination and love. What is better than that? Kudos to awesome author Phil Padwe! Looking forward to more books from him!

As a family who both parents are heavily covered in tattoos and have been around & work in the tattoo industry since we were old enough to get them, I am torn on this book.

We have an 18m girl and I figure any parents with tattoos like us dont really need to worry about teaching our children about accepting tattooed people or help them with thinking they are scary. Obviously she will be immune to that.

I got this book just because I thought it was a cute concept and something nice to add to her book shelve,
After reading the story I'm I bit disappointed, though it is a childrens book & I suspected it'd be really cheesy..
The heavily tattooed guys name is Mr.Too and his dogs name is Tattoo..

My husband & I are more disappointed to the fact of the book really didnt teach any points of the beauty of the art. It seems the author really doesnt know much about tattoos at all, It didnt help the book having the Mommy
with a tramp stamp. Most artists and people who know & appreciate the art look down on certain stereotypes as that, would have settled for an ankle tattoo or something.

What surprised me most was at the end of the story Mr.Too gave the little boy some temporary tattoos for his arms, the boy loved them so much & he slept with them on with a big smile on his face.

If you want your young impressionable children WANTING tattoos, this is the book for you.

Thats just the feeling I got.

Besides all of that, I like the idea.
I really hope a Tattoo artist who knows what they are talking about and knows a good message to convey WILL TRY THIS IDEA AGAIN.

On another note, the Tattoo coloring book is pretty cute. Its set up like flash and has some basic tattoo designs that people with no imagination get when their at a shop.
So this idea could probably be done again too, but its better then the book.

This is a great book for the little kids. It is not meant for adults so get over yourself if you are an adult saying that it is "hokey" or "poorly written" with out any real constructive criticism. It is meant for little kids.

The book teaches that you can not always judge a person based alone on how they look. As a female former educator with full sleeve tattoos (yes I had them while educating),I find this book quite helpful in showing that just because a person may look scary or uneducated does not mean that they are. Also it is pretty accurate in that most females who are not complete tattoo enthusiasts or were a little "crazy wild" at one point in life tend to have the lower back tattoo (or tramp stamp for the name callers). It is also a place that is better hidden by clothes and that would be why James has not seen his mothers tattoo. If it had been in a more visible space on her body the book would not have made sense.

I believe that any book that is reaching and teaching to young ones about tolerances of peoples differences and how to look beyond the appearance is a benefit to all. So please if you have no real comments of benefit that would help enhance or improve and are only looking to "make fun" of something, keep them to yourself.

Thank you so much for writing this book, my husband reads it to our son every night and then he takes our sons hand and has him touch....mommys tattoo. He is only 4 months old but when you say mommy has a tattoo to him, he laughs and reaches for my neck and leg!!! Without this book, we would not know how to explain tattoos to him once he got older....now we don't have to. No little red riding hood for our son, his bedtime story is "Mommy has a tattoo" and it will be until he is too old for stories!!!!!

I am absolutly in love with this book! My son loves to look at my tattoos and to point out what they are of. He has never been scard of people with tattoos- but I was glad to see that there finally is a book that can point to other children that tattoos are really part of the norm these days and nothing to be afraid of. The book is very cute and colorful. He requests the book now every night before bedtime. I would definatly recomend this book to any parent- regardless if they have tattoos themselves.
