I don't know, have I already momnesia'd out of recalling the early years of being a parent? My kids are only 3, I think I remember most of it. Just the other day the grating little grunt my kid let out made me jump up and think she was pooping her diaper before I remembered she was potty trained. (I checked, she wasn't.)

Anyway, while the humor was similar I still found The World According to Toddlers funnier. Yes, I may be influenced because its more applicable to my current situation, but I DID read World According to Toddlers before they were actually toddlers. Some of it was puzzling until it actually happened. Then it was pretty funny. Anyway, World According to Toddlers seemed to have more content or a broader range of humor. I think the idea of Momnesia was a little more stretched out and one note. The puzzles, for example, were funny in a quick take that didn't require a whole page, or more than one page. Yes, they made the point that Momnesia victims weren't going to have much attention span, but you know... you're buying a book here...

I gave this four stars instead of just 3 because it's a nice book: not evil or snarky or depressing. You NEED this type of humor when you're going through this stress. It's sweet and funny and makes you feel like there's people who understand what you're going through. I just like the Toddler book a bit better.

It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't raised a baby just what it's like to deal with the sudden stress of responsibility, the complete lack of sleep, the hungry cries and the wild hormonal swings that occur. This book does a great job of adding a lighthearted look into the situation and helping a new mom smile with recognition.

You definitely don't want to take this book too seriously. There are silly word scrambles where the words only have 2 letters each. Rearrange TI into a word. There are maps of the brain, showing just how confused it has become. Suggestions for how to survive a cocktail party when your brain is mostly asleep. Great drawings and funny stories.

The book helps a new mom realize that she's not alone in what she's going through - that every new mother has felt fuzzy headed, has made mistakes, has to struggle sometimes to adjust to her new world. A lot of the book is about breast pump humor and hormonal surges, so I do say that this is for natural moms - not for dads or adoptive parents. I don't mind that - there are enough books out there that there are 'cute funny' books for every segment of the population.

This is a great book to give as a new baby present. I'm not sure I'd give it as a baby shower present - the mom-to-be simply won't get many of the jokes or sympathize fully with them. If you give her the book after week one or two of having the baby in her arms, suddenly the book becomes hilarious and she understands just where the jokes are coming from. And then she'll start crying. Darn hormones!

Well recommended.

I got the Kindle version and thought it was hilarious!! I bookmarked several pages to share with my husband and friends, and I plan to get this as a gift for my friends after they have a new baby. My youngest is 9 months old, so a lot of the quips in this book are still fresh in my life. I also love that everything is organized into snippets, b/c busy moms don't have more than a few seconds here and there to enjoy a book.

I just received this for Christmas and I'm laughing out loud!! After having 3 children in less than 3 years I can relate to most of this book. It's truly hilarious. It'll be awesome during my next pregnancy and post-partum period because I'll have forgotten that I read it right now. :) GET THIS for mothers!!!!!

Finally there is a name for my syndrome. As a mom of three, this book is especially hilarious. It is filled with oddly relatable moments of the mommy mush brain tips to help reclaim our pre-baby smarts. It is the perfect antidote to the 'uber mom', over achieving expectations plaguing so many people. This book will certainly make you laugh and is the perfect gift for other moms in your life. (I pair it with the Boob book for new moms). Love these authors. They get it right every time.
