It's a year and a half calendar, but I buy it annually. So that part isn't a selling feature to me. But if it's valuable to other families I guess I'm glad they make it that way.
Stickers are cute but we always forget to use them. Sometimes when I take it down to do big updates (like at the start of a soccer season I add all the practices and games) my 6 year old joins me and he has a great time decorating dates.
I do use the important numbers sheet. It's stuck to the side of our fridge and has everything a sitter needs on it.
I use the pocket as well. If I get a sports schedule hard copy I add the dates to the calendar and stick the hard copy in the pocket. Nice to have the original in case there are questions or if I need to take it with me. I do have to use a paperclip to clip the papers in the pocket to the back sheet of the calendar or else the tend to fall forward and out (the pocket is shallow) as we get towards the second half of the year and there are less sheets to hold the papers in place.
Everyone knows to look at the calendar. If it's on there, it's booked. We update our electronic calendars from it and it's nice to have something tangible as the main source.
Overall - I really love this calendar. It's very useful and it's perfect for my family. It's also really durable (good quality paper - not flimsy at all! Really stands up to my constant updating). I haven't found any others that work as well. it's also fun to look at - Sandra Boynton's designs are very cute. I recommend this to any family!!!
-Nice weight to the paper so it's not flimsy or see through. You can use a permanent marker and it wont bleed through.
-Large print so its easy to see and read.
-Colorful with stickers. So the kids LOVE to fill in their blocks with their schedules.
-The pocket on the back cover for holding small pieces of paper, notes, etc. is a nice feature. I use it to hold appointment reminders so I can double check them against the calendar.
-The blocks are just a tad bit small. I personally don't mind it, but please see my next "con" below.
-Although the glossiness of the paper helps to prevent bleeding, it's not good for gel ink type pens and some ball point pens. Pencils don't write easily on this type of paper either. So we use a fine tip sharpie. Mistakes mean even less room in the block.
-The thicker paper makes this calendar a little bit heavy so you need extra strong magnets to put this up on your refrigerator. We pin ours to the wall (drywall). I'm just a little concerned with the push pin sagging down as the year goes by.
-The format. I bought this for 2013. So August to November 2012 is a waste of paper and weight on my wall.
I'm normally a 3 month calendar type of mom. I like to see the previous, current, and next month at all times so I can plan accordingly. This calendar does NOT allow me to do that. So, I need to get used to this new format.
However, the structure of this type of calendar makes it easier for me to see each family members plans at a glance. And this is why I love it. I'll just put my 3 month calendar up near by for forecasting schedules.
