Eminently readable day and night: A perfect alarm clock for everyone who appreciates beautiful form and flawless function. The legendary dial of the Official Swiss Railways Watch is superbly easy to read - now in the dark, too, thanks to the innovative technology of tiny luminescent glass capsules on the hands and face. The luminosity is several times more powerful than conventional illumination systems, plus it requires no light source to recharge without sacrificing any luminous intensity.
Employ a smart piece of Swiss ingenuity in your everyday life with a clock from the good people at Mondaine. Sleek, minimalist and modern, these clocks embody the precision steadily ticking along inside every Mondaine timepiece.

Having said that, is it a very good design, heavy for its size and the night vision is good enough to read in total darkness. I think that Mondaine has a commercial relationship with Luminox since the tritium tubes are just like the Luminox watches ones. It is also very silent so prob you will not be able to hear the ticks.
Bottom line: if you think the look beats the other practical issues, go ahead and get one (unless you are willing to spend even more money and decide to get the Swiss Army one - but with no night vision!).
Be aware though that the face is quite small, 35mm or about 1 3/8" in diameter, and I found that even using my finger tip, changing the alarm time can be a bit difficult.
Other than that, a great looking and working alarm clock.
