Data and evidence don’t lie—but for too long, our policy makers haven’t paid them nearly enough attention. In this refreshing collaboration, an all-star team of leaders and thinkers from across the political spectrum lays out an exciting and achievable vision for the country — one where policy makers base decisions not on politics or expedience, but on the hard evidence of what really works. For anyone who believes that government must do better for America’s children and their families, Moneyball for Government is a home run.

Great concept, and dead-on advice. A must for anyone working in government and elected officials. There are excellent examples of effective education and human service policy application. However, this book only scratches the surface of the problem within governance and could have benefitted from local examples, especially in the relationship of land use to municipal coffers. It is the municipal management at the local level (Cities and Counties) where this book is more necessary, as that is where the rubber meets the road.

This is a great read for anyone who's interested in either technology or "fixing" government (and is especially interesting for the person who's interested in using technology to fix government!)

Eminently practical bipartisan advice for getting government to be more rational in its choices and directions. Hard work to get there? Yes but needed.

Hey, you know what would be a great idea? If we solved weekend hunger. And all we have to do is get Congress to function. There, I just saved you having to read this book.

I thought the book was going to be more technical. The content it's a good intro to evidence based management; I totally support the author's argument of using evidence to improve government operations, but I thought the book was going to go a little deeper into the actual analytics.
