The bike rides quite nicely, and the brakes perform well. The shifting system is just ok, the chain rubs against the front derailleur and I had to tweak it a few times to where it now only rubs slightly on the opposite gear extremes (but I couldn't get it to not rub at all). Shifting on the chainring/crank is a little unreliable and has to be done purposefully when moving it to a higher gear otherwise it can get stuck in between gears and the chain could pop off. On my first 10min test ride, the chain popped off once and got wedged between the crank and the frame again - when it gets wedged there it wants to stay there, took me a few minutes to pry it loose again. The gears are spaced nicely in my opinion - the lowest gear is quite low allowing for steep uphill climbs. The highest gear isn't the highest but for me plenty good.
If I had paid $300 for the bike it would be a 3-star rating, but at $150 it's a solid 4-star rating. I would have given it a 5-star rating if the shifting system were more reliable. Overall I'm happy with my purchase so far, would recommend it to others.
Went ahead and got the 18" for myself. Kind of pissed the price shot up so quickly, but it was still a good deal at $180, would have been a lot happier at the $135. I did have to adjust the front derailed on this one. Easiest way to do it was to tighten the derailer cable, shifts perfect after a 10 minute fix. Still going to keep the 5 stars going with a comparison to the Diamondback Outlook that cost over a hundred more. They will need to do something about the packaging quickly, this one arrived in pretty much half a box. Luckily the box with the pedals, skewers, and brake noodle was still there.
Also when the bike arrived, the handle bar stem and the fork were installed backwards.
The shifters, and derailurs are good and work great. Shimano makes pretty good stuff.
I'd give this bike a better review if I hadn't had the issues with the crank set.
