This is the base game. Get it first before the expansions, if you care about that.

This is by far our favorite game. It was introduced to us by family who also insisted it was their favorite game. Basically it’s three rounds all played with the same deck. Round one... trivia (but not the lame kind) Round Two.... you can only use one word! But it’s the same deck of cards and by this point you have guessed or read them. Round Three... sharades!!! It’s great for all adults. I have played many many times with my mother in law and have never felt too uncomfortable. There are some borderline raunchy cards but it’s all how you play the game. If you buy it just buy all the expansions too!!!
LOVE this game! It’s great for parties, family get-togethers etc. I would describe it as a Charades/Catchphrase Combo. Each person picks a certain amount of descriptive cards, they all go in a stack and then players take turns trying to get their team to guess the words written on the card to earn points. 1st round : Player can say any phrases to describe the card WITHOUT saying the actual thing on the card (obviously) 2nd round : Player can only use ONE WORD to get their team to guess the card 3rd Round: Charades- you act the card out. The pile of cards stays the same throughout the rounds so guessing gets easier since you remember cards from previous rounds.
All in all this game is easy to learn and you can control the difficulty based on the cards each player chooses to go into the main deck. I’ve played it with people from ages 10-80 and have never laughed so much during a game. Moody teenagers and grandparents alike enjoyed it and seeing my father in law trying to act out the iconic flash dance water scene was worth the game price.
Monikers is more interactive and definitely more tasteful than Cards Against Humanity, but it can often get just as messed up (if you have the right -- or wrong -- group of people).
Everyone draws cards and picks X number of cards based on whatever criteria they wish (humor, familiarity, etc). These cards will be placed together to create the deck for the game. You split into two teams, with each person on each team taking turns as the speaker or performer. The goal is to have your team guess as many cards as you can for the most points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
One game consists of three basic rounds. Each round is played until all cards in the deck have been guessed and placed into a team's score pile. After each round, you count up the round's scores and reshuffle the deck to start the next round:
Round 1 -- Basically, Taboo+. You can say anything, do anything, make any sounds, as long as you don't read the name of the card itself. The card titles can be anything from a celebrity ("Michael J. Fox") to a pop culture reference ("Lady Gaga's meat dress") to something ridiculously difficult to guess, like "The astronaut who chased her ex-boyfriend across the country while wearing diapers" (or something like that...).
Round 2 -- You can only make ONE sound or say ONE word, no gestures, nothing. This is one of the most hilarious parts of the game. Once I kept screaming "Russia" in an accent to try to get my team to guess "Catherine the Great." It's awful, difficult, but so gratifying when your team gets it! Your group will undoubtedly make inside jokes and really screwed up references during this round.
Round 3 -- Charades! Now you have to act out the cards, which can prove to be very easy for some cards and impossible for others.

Overall, the game is a blast. Monikers also comes with a "variations" list -- ways you can switch up the game to keep its replay value at the highest. And they have an expansion pack out with another one on the way. Definitely a keeper!
Really fun game, especially for a larger multigenerational group (we had 8 people and divided into 2 teams of 4). Round 3 is especially fun when you can only do charades with the clues. OMG I was crying because I was laughing so hard. This is a keeper for our family gatherings.
the game has 3 rounds and it starts off similar to the mobile game heads up with the words being a little bit more obscure but they have little descriptions on each card you can read to help you out. because the words are a little harder to guess you think of creative ways to get the others to guess the words. in the second round you use the same stack of cards as the first round BUT you only get one word per card to describe it, this sounds hard but since the first round forces you to get creative in the descriptions you'll be able to recall most of them which is almost unbelievable and gets super exciting. by the third round using the same deck again, this time you can only use charades and by now the cards have each become little inside jokes. this game is by far the best i've purchased since back when cards against humanity first game out. 100% worth it and highly recommend!
Love this game - we used to play it as ‘ the basket game’ where the players would add the ‘cards’ to a basket to pick out -this is ready made so much quicker to set up. Causes some real laugh out loud moments especially with the mime round!
Rapid delivery & excellent quality. It’s a great game although be warned that you’ll need to “edit” the card selection if you’re intending to play as a family rather than as adults only
Two years ago, one of my friends was given Monikers as a birthday gift by her new boyfriend. We played the game and the review was unanimous- Monikers is great, but her boyfriend is not. A few weeks later, they broke up and he took Monikers in the split. We were all heartbroken. If this man stood any chance of leaving a respectable legacy, he ruined it by taking Monikers with him. (Especially because, as you may remember, it was a gift?) I lived the following years in a haze. Reminiscing about Monikers with friends, and wandering aimlessly around Canadian game stores hoping to find it once more. Eventually we gave up hope, accepting that if this game is out there? We couldn’t find it. But this year, I was blessed with a Christmas miracle- I remembered that the internet exists and I have a credit card. I bought it on Amazon for my girlfriend’s Christmas gift and now my life is worth living again. Colours are brighter, smells are sweeter, music makes me dance! Will my girlfriend break up with me in a few weeks time? Am I doomed to the same fate of the very man who introduced me to this game? Possibly. But right now? I’m living my life, and I’m loving it.
