Ok after reading the reviews I looked into this because I've used the Monistat 1 three times. The first time I used it there were no issues. The second and third time I used it, it felt like I'd set myself on fire. I was really confused so now that I need to use it again I did a little label reading and guess what, there are 2 different Monistat 1's! The first one is a pre-filled 1 day applicator and contains 300 mg of Ticonozale (6.5%). The second one is an ovule insert 1 day applicator and contains 1200 mg of Miconazole. They both work within a roughly 24 hour time frame and need only a single application, however the ovule 1200 mg Miconazole is the one that set me on fire. The other one worked great and didn't burn, just tingled a bit, similar to a topical numbing ointment. Both are best used at night just before bed since they are a bit messy. However I will be avoiding the ovule from now on and going with the 300 mg of Ticonozale. Hopefully this is helpful to others out there. Wish they'd thought to make it more obvious :-S.

Here we go.......

All the bad reviews are true and all the good reviews are true. Ill address bad reviews first:

Women who experienced absolute horrific pain are justified. I purchased this product because I wanted to QUICKLY rid myself of my YI. It burned so badly for 2 hours then subsided to a warm sensation, I still felt a bit sore from the burning though. This is NOT a bad product. I felt better 24 hours later so It does what it claims. What I failed to realize was that this is a HIGH DOSAGE MEDICATION!!!!!!! It will do exactly what it claims. My only gripe with Monistat is that they should put Extra Strength on the box. Yes the pain was horrible but thats because its an extreme dosage. In the future I will opt for the 3 or 7 day treatment. Women who experienced an allergic reaction its because you were exposed to high dosages of all the active ingredients. My advice is to READ and RESEARCH anything when it comes to your health especially for your lady bits. I didn't read or research and I got burned......literally. #lessonlearnedhard

Good Reviews:

Women who have had positive reactions to this medication are a bit snarky towards the ladies with the negative ones. First and foremost, we all know our own bodies. I know when I'm having either a UTI, bacterial, or yeast infection. So I don't need you to insinuate I have an STD which is what most of the goodie reviewers are hinting at so...yea F you on that regard. But I digress...
Yes you are right this is a great product because it does what It claims. The high dosage is clearly marked on the box and if you did your research and read the box, you were able to make an informed decision on whether the product was right for you. Good Job!

Just got back from my gynecologist's office, after using Monistat 1 around 9 PM last night. At around 10 PM, the itching and the pain set in. I writhed on the couch for maybe half an hour before deciding that I needed to hop on the internet and do something about my fire crotch. Indeed, as I described to my concerned girlfriend, this product burns like an open wound in the Dead Sea. And it just keeps burning. I, like many of you, knocked frantically around my bathroom for the next hour employing a number of rudimentary strategies to scrape, squeeze, siphon this Hell Goo out of my hoohah. To no avail. I spent the rest of the night reading reviews from others who had gone through this hell before me, and complaining to anyone who would listen that my fun bits were swelling to epic proportions. Lying down seemed to help slightly with the pain. Also removing all pants, underwear and positioning yourself atop a towel and near a fan.

In the morning, things were still burning and inflamed. In fact, my labia were so swollen that it looked like I'd grown an entirely new organ down there overnight. I called my gyn, explained to the nurse what had happened, and she told me to come in right away. After a speculum insertion that was worse than surprise anal, the doctor was able to clear the remaining Hell Goo out of my lady chamber. She then confirmed, via swab sample, that I did have a yeast infection, for which she gave me Diflucan. She assured me that my infection was definitely not bacterial. I mention this detail because some other reviewers have suggested that Monistat 1 will only burn you if you have something other than a yeast infection. This is false.

Anyway, she told me I was experiencing an allergic reaction and also to not ever use any Monistat products ever again.

OKAY. So I developed a yeast infection when I started taking antibiotics this week. Don't tell me it is not a yeast infection because I took two home-tests and have had many in the past. I'm in my 20's and have never been allergic to any medicine and have never even broken out in a rash until this devil medicine.

I went out and bought the one day hoping to clear it up quickly. THEN I read the reviews. I thought everyone was being dramatic, but guess what- an hour after I used it I was in a TON of pain. It started off as a mild itching but turned into an unbearable itching burning sensation. After two hours I couldn't handle it and used water to try and rinse it out. (you don't even want to know how I got it all out.)

I then sat there with an ice pack to get the burning to stop. I have never written a review and thought everybody was just exaggerating, but I will never use this product again and will tell everyone I know to avoid it. JUST USE THE THREE DAY! It takes longer but is not super intense. I wish I had not tried to rush the treatment and do the one day.

And lastly- if you are one of the few blessed ones who did not have a reaction, then you have a vagina of steel. congratulations.
