It's time for the annual Quilter's Crawl and this year Quilters Paradiso (QP) is back on the map as part of the crawl. Over the weekend quilters will travel to 12 different quilt shops in the area for special bargains and prizes. Vangie from QP has even set up a Twitter promotion to help boost sales.

Getting everything set up and organized has been quite hectic as Vangie has college classes to work around and a new boyfriend. The store's long time teacher Pearl is starting to fail a bit so she is not as much help as Dewey was hoping she would be. Dewey will work day and night with her few available employees to make sure everything is just right.

While picking up more maps for the Crawl Dewey learns of a program at the college that places young men with elderly women call "Grand Son". They help around the house, run errands, help with medications. She thinks this maybe just the thing to help Pearl get back to where she was and teaching classes again.

Just days before the Crawl a riot breaks out on campus as law enforcement tries to crack down on the drug problem at the collage and Vangie's new boyfriends dies from an overdose.

As if that's not enough, one of the Twitter promotions sets off a stampede and a customer is killed.

These events have all put a huge Monkey Wrench into Dewey's weekend plans. Now she has to untangle the clues and piece them back together to save her store and herself and her friends.

Dollycas's Thoughts
Terri packs her pages with drama, humor, a little romance and some wild characters. We were introduced to quite a group in this edition.

I love a simple mystery with lots of fun thrown in of a quilting store. I have read all of the books in this series - one right after the other. They are all good and fun with a continuing story but you do not have to read all to read one. I like a real life story with a little life, a little romance, and a lot of fun. Working through the mystery the same as the main character is fun and the mystery ends with a realistic conclusion.

Terri Thayer writes about a woman who inherited her Mother's quilt shop. Her adventures with her staff, customers, and growing relationship with her beau make for a fun read. This series of books was over much too soon! I enjoyed each of them so (sew!) much!!!

Got the first book in this series as a freebie for my Kindle. Got me hooked. Fun and entertaining read. Very good mystery, plus as a quilter enjoy that aspect being thrown in. I am currently reading the 4th in this series. Have enjoyed every one of them.

Terri Thayer's quilting mystery series carries a unique wittiness that I haven't found in other series. Her protagonist, Dewey, is delightfully sarcastic and unpretentious. Her exasperation at the ridiculousness of her sister-in-law, Kym, mirrors the exasperation I think many of us feel towards any self-absorbed individual who ignores the obvious and only seeks his or her own self-gratification. In this fourth novel, readers are able to see a greater depth in the characters of Frank, Pearl, and Vangie, and Thayer is able to accomplish this quite effectively through their interactions with Dewey and Buster. Also, I particularly enjoyed the way that Thayer developed Ursula so that she is more relaxed than she was in the previous novel, _Ocean Waves_. The mystery was interesting and contemporary, and showed how easily it is for people of any age to be taken in by the myriad of con artists out there, and I thought Thayer's description of Pearl's behaviors and emotions to be poignant and realistic.

Dewey has her hands full with her participation in this year's Quilter's Crawl and with two of her friends, Pearl and Vangie, who are not acting like themselves lately. When Vangie's boyfriend is found dead and a customer dies during one of their events, Dewey will have to pin the pieces together to save her friends and put an end to a killer's plan.

What a fun ride! This was a good mystery filled with humor; suspense and non-stop action as the story took place all over San Jose. The author's words gave me the same rush of the customers as they traveled from quilt shop to quilt shop, never knowing what's going to happen next. It was fun seeing Dewey, Buster and especially Freddie and the rest of the supporting cast. I do enjoy their interactions and conversations with each other that make this an entertaining read. It's been a long time between visits with Dewey and I hope she is here to stay for more exciting adventures in this wonderfully crafted series.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series and wish there were more. I hope the author adds to it. I like the characters, and the connection with quilting, especially the inclusion of the Quilters Crawl in this story. Also, the mention of more modern quilters. I liked the surprise near the end, just when it was feeling a little predictable.
