A Race for the White House

It's a Monopoly game in which players dream, campaign, and vote their way to the White House! Choose one of the Candidate tokens: a donkey, elephant, eagle, flag, peace sign, or teacup; get assigned to the red or blue party and get ready for some political wheeling and dealing.

Players move around the board buying as many states as they can. Own a complete color set of states and establish Campaign Headquarters to bring in more votes and more rent.

Cards Have Leverage

Flex political muscle with Executive Power cards and get perks such as getting out of Jail free, or cancelling an action played against you. I Voted cards let players vote on who profits -- and who has to pay.

Description

The Monopoly House Divided board game celebrates the ups and downs of an election campaign. Imagine being in the midst of it all with this exciting game for families and kids ages 8 and up. Players buy states, earn votes, and collect rent. Establish Campaign Headquarters to earn more votes. Executive Power cards and I Voted cards let players do a variety of things such as steal states or send opponents to Jail. Those lucky enough to get the White House token can double the rent they charge, and add more votes at the end of the game. When all the states are claimed, the candidate with the most votes wins!

    We enjoyed this version of Monopoly. My son loves everything about politics. It was a cute gift for him. We played a few times. Easy and not as long as regular Monopoly. I don’t see us playing this often, but fun with occasional play.

Monopoly - A House Divided is a fast-paced game that ends when all the properties -- aka the states in the election -- are purchased. The game pokes fun and yet celebrates the election process in a non-partisan way. Really ingenious how the design takes all the parts we love about Monopoly and riffs on them to incorporate elements of the political season like executive privilege, voting, campaign headquarters, fundraisers and much more. Played it once already and planning a boardgame brunch for this weekend with Monopoly-A House Divided as the main event.

    I purchased this version of the game because it was the least expensive option I could find besides the classic, and I wanted something fun and different. I actually love this version of monopoly and my fiancé and I had such a blast playing. It really is not your traditional game of monopoly, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I highly highly recommend this version of monopoly to anyone who has an interest in us politics, or is extra competitive.

    I haven't played the game yet after I received my box yesterday so cannot comment on the 'fun' part of the game. Since it looks interesting, hence I purchased it. However, one of the things I noticed rightaway was an error. If you flip over the box, it seems that somehow there was a design/ printing error done by Hasbro Gaming wherein the arrow that should point towards 'I Voted' cards is pointing towards 'Executive Power' cards and vice versa. Hopefully the manufacturer fixes it!
