What I had before was all CAT5e ports and intellinet cabling going to four 8 port switches that lead to a Netgear R6300v2. I host a server for our blu-ray / DVD digital downloads and as a file server for our laptops and desktops to have a stable back up environment. It worked flawlessly but sometimes could get congested if someone was watching a stream from the server, Netflix, Hulu, and a backup was taking place. We have 4 active users in the house so congestion was to be expected.
When I put in the new cabling and equipment the congestion was gone. I started by just using the cable to replace critical lines (Switches to router) and that dramatically increased the speed as well as reduced collision and congestion. The cable was easy to work with, the plastic separator was easy to remove when terminating. it was flexable enough to flatten and make a quick snip. The wires were easily scored when punched down, but strong enough not to get cut when removing the outer sheath. The SNR is superb and I haven't noticed any EMI issues either.
You can't get anything better at such a price! I highly recommend this cable to anyone who wants to run office lines or add ports to their home.

Let me be clear in that I have not yet added ends to the cable so am not sure how well they terminate or work, but overall running was fairly simple. 2 of the 3 boxes purchased seemed to snag every 75 ft or so, making it frustrating to pull the wires, thus the 4 stars instead of 5, but overall was satisfied to this point. I will update once the house is finished and the wires are put to use.
** As an update, I have started hooking up components and connectors and have had 0 issues with this cable. Ends terminate easily and there has been no loss of signal running HDMI, IR signals, and others up to 100 feet. Good product, I would use it again.
Only real issues I had was with the box being tought to pull at times. Seemed to randomly bunch up, and after a quick tug seemed to start feeding like normal. Second, the wires seemed to break easily when untwisting the pairs. Had to redo several cuts due to this before I got a better system down.
Overall, great quality cable for the cost, more than enough to do a single story home with 2 drops to each room.
So far I've run about 450ft of this stuff through my basement prior to insulation and drywall and I've made several patch cables for my patch panel / router / switch connections. This is a great value cable. The cable itself is easy to pull - be sure to pay attention to the instructions on the outside of the box regarding how to store and place the box while pulling. It had the right amount of stiffness you'd expect, for those who pull other cable I would say it's slightly less stiff than 14/2 Romex but more stiff than 14/2 stranded speaker wire.
When creating your connections, this is great cable for a punch panel or Cat6 jacks, the individual cable stiffness is managable and a 110 punchdown tool (like the DataShark 70034). If you make patch cables with this, you'll need to spend some time gently bending the untwisted pairs back and forth to straighten the cable and ready it for a plug. For some small patch cables between my punch panel and router, I stripped and untwisted a little more than 1 inch so there was enough to straighten, then I trimmed the cables to a shorter length before crimping on the plug.
I also recommend if you're running in wall cabling, you definitely want to use the Riser or Plenum rated cable.Read more ›

This box of cable is high quality, low kink, and spools fairly nicely. I would say it would be nice if it had the anti pullback fingers when paying out. Read morePublished 2 days ago by Eric M. Gildersleeve

Cat 6 is the way to go. This wire being Cat 6 is thicker and stiffer than Cat 5e due to the plastic spine inside the cover. It's used to separate the pairs. Read morePublished 18 days ago by H. T. Morgan
Monoprice always has good products, this is no exception. Easy to run, doesn't bend and crack. Good savings compared to home depot and is white, blends in better than blue.Published 22 days ago by Alan K. Libbee
