I purchased 2 of these the other day just to have because I live in an area that is prone to losing power when the wind blows at all.
At first I thought these were broken because when I tested them they did not seem to want to turn on. You just have to hold the power button in hard for about 3 seconds and it will charge whatever you plug in.
This was able to charge my friend's iphone to full from 30% on the 1a port at the same time as it charged my iphone (5%) and mophie case (0%) to full in the 2.1a port.
It still had about 25% power at that point which was enough to bring my (notoriously picky about charging) Nexus 7 about 50% higher.
The other one was enough to bring my 17% batt iPad to full charge with some juice left over.
The USB ports on these are offset slightly from where they "feel" like they should be, so getting plugs in is a hassle but I like that as it holds onto the plug very tightly. Nothing worse than a loose USB port.
All in all im so happy with these im buying 2 more to give as Christmas presents.
the 2.1 port is very nice for the iphone and charges quickly.
while you do need the cord to charge your device, unlike the smaller ones, the extra benefits ( 2.1 charge, 2 devices at once, ANY device, multi charging) outweigh any smaller gripes.
In the past, i have given smaller versions to friends as gifts for xmas. This year , I'll be giving out these.
simple tricks to remember, plug your device in and then hit the power button to begin charging. Do not charge the battery with an overated usb charger.

Like many overpowered phones under heavy use as a camera, credit card wifi hotspot, etc... it got too low by dinner time. That's when I grabbed this battery from my bag, plugged it into my phone and stuck both of them into my pocket. I continued to use the phone the rest of the evening and by the time got home, the phone was fully charged and the battery pack looked like it could've gone three or four more times.
I haven't been able to drain it completely yet, so I'm going to have to try to plan for a longer trip.
My daughter and I love road trips and electronic gadgets. I'm constantly using my phone as a wifi hot spot for my tablet (thanks, Verizon, for unlimited data--I'm sure that won't last forever!). My daughter does all the navigation and keeps herself entertained with the tablet or with her laptop. When we are in the car we just plug in but when we go for a hike we like to take the tablet along for the extra GPS, trail tracking, etc. The wifi hotspot really sucks the juice out of my phone. Even the Note II, with it's nice battery life, loses its charge within 2 hours when it is running the hotspot app. This gadget gives me a full charge on both the phone and tablet. Very nice!
I also use it to get a few more hours out of my phone when I am trout fishing all weekend. Eventually, I have to rely on my solar powered recharger which kinda sucks. But, if I have good access to the sun that thing recharges my phone and this gadget for basically perpetual power. Even if I have no sun, I get one charge out of my solar powered gadget, two charges out of this gadget and the original charge on my phone. That keeps my Note II going with bluetooth from Friday evening until Sunday evening without ever plugging into my car.
This device has been invaluable! Normally my iPhone 5 would run out of battery in 2.5-3 hours of Geocaching, which is far too soon for a big Geocaching event that spans 2 days. This battery pack provides about 3 FULL charges of my iPhone 5, and if you use the 2.1A port, it does so at an incredible rate! It literally feels twice as fast as a normal charge rate.
Basically when I carry this battery pack, it gives me PURE CONFIDENCE that I can use my phone as much as I want and I don't have to worry about running out of battery all day!
The only annoying things are nitpicky - the fact it never gets all 4 blue LEDs "full charge" (a full charge is when 3 LEDs are solid and the 4th one is still flashing...), and the less than obvious requirement of holding down the power button for 3 full seconds before the battery turns on. Hardly a big deal once you know this.

I loved this pack when I first began using it. Then it suddenly stopped working and has not worked since. If I could get it fixed or replaced I would be overjoyed! Read morePublished 5 months ago by Fran Roberts
I have no complaints about this battery pack. It is about the size of an iPhone maybe a little thicker but it works for the job needed. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Tyler
