My goal was simple: wireless audio from TV to bluetooth speaker or 2 headsets, so wife and I can watch a movie together on TV while the babies are sleeping. Open floor plan house with 2-floor family room is nice visually, but horrible aurally for keeping noise down. Subtitles are helpful, but sound is still crucial.
I've tried many bluetooth audio transmitters:
- Monoprice 109722 Bluetooth Transmitter and Splitter - Other Bluetooth - Retail Packaging
I bought 2 of these to use with a 3.5mm audio splitter, but having 2 side-by-side interfered with each other, causing sound to cut in and out. Just using one at distances over 10' caused sound to also cut in and out.
- KOKKIA A10m MULTI-STREAM 3.5mm Universal EDR Bluetooth Stereo Transmitter/Splitter
This had the best potential since it can stream audio simultaneously to 2 bluetooth devices, but maintaining both connections was very hit-or-miss, and caused audio sync issues (sound was behind video). 1 of the 2 headsets simultaneously connected also had much lower volume than the other, although that can be compensated by boosting volume on that particular headset.

Overall it worked well in that set up - I was able to connect it to both Jamboxes relatively easily, only took two tries. The first time I tried to connect both at the same time, per the directions and while they connected - one dropped off shortly after. The second time I connected one at a time and it was easier. It did play through both devices, though the second one was softer, (I just to turned up the volume), and the sound was less rich and full.
A tip I found that will help if you are connecting it to bluetooth speakers - switch your device to "mono" instead of "stereo" and it will even out the sound and volume issues. Not sure if that would work well for headphones, but using it with speakers is a good idea.
The only downside is that it won't work while charging, so you cannot leave it plugged in and charged and still use it. It would also be nice to be able to turn it on and off without having to go through the pairing mode, which is how the devices ended up unpairing the first time.
The battery life has been good so far and the range seems to be good to. Just an FYI it will NOT split the single feed into two separate stereo channels, so you cannot use it to create a stereo system with two individual bluetooth speakers.
You could use a 3.5mm plug splitter and two separate bluetooth transmitters and create your own bluetooth splitter, but this is easier. I'm thinking about buying a second one and a 3.Read more ›
