I purchased this item to use with my MS Surface Pro 128GB tablet and it performs as advertised.

My Usage applications:
- I use the HDMI connection to stream movies to my home theater system using my tablet and XBMC. 1080p HD Video and HD Audio (DTS, DTS HD-MA, TrueHD, Dolby Digital, etc.) are perfect!
- I use the DisplayPort to connect to my Dell U3011 30" monitor @ 2560x1600 60Hz!
- The DisplayPort supports Video and Audio Pass-thru to my 5.1 PC speaker setup. The Dell U3011 has outputs connections for 5.1 PC speaker setup.

It's been great for a month now and I suspect it will hold up for a while. Overall this item meets or exceeds all of my expectations.

I purchased the Monoprice Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter from CE Compass. However, the product I received was generic without any branding. However, upon further research, it seems like the actual Monoprice adapter is just a rebranded version of the generic. So they should be the same product. They come in the same packaging and the ports and functionality description is exactly the same. However, not actually receiving a Monoprice branded product is disappointing. The seller should specify that they are selling a generic version of the item. Overall, the device works for me. If you are using this adapter above 1080p, make sure to check the specs as the resolution will not go much higher.

Update 1/1/2013: Recently I have been having connectivity issues. When I plug the adapter into my computer, sometimes the computer does not detect it or it does for a second and loses connection again. This issue is a bit frustrating.

Edit: This cable is absolutely terrible. At the slightest movement - even a deep breath - the display goes black and has to be fiddled with for five minutes before it is back to working order. Avoid this adapter. Save your money and try an HDMI to USB option or a device that will allow AirPlay Mirroring (check to see if your computer supports airplay mirroring).

This is my original review. Soon after it was written however, the cable ultimately crapped out.

This is a quality cable with some great options. It allows you to choose between DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort for output unlike most cables of this type and in this price range. After some months of use, there have been no issues. The cable can be a bit finicky if the computer moves around (this can cause it to stop displaying on the external device for a moment) but this is hardly an issue as it does not happen all that often.

I had purchased monoprice cables in the past and took at chance on this Thunderbolt adapter to add a 24"display our family's 13" MacBook Pro. It worked perfect. No more peering over shoulders and squinting at screens.

I've tried this on multiple Macs with different hardware configurations, and it seems to work great on all of them. I have been able to extend a desktop on my iMac, and I've used it to throw HDMI video and audio from my wife's Macbook Air and my brother-in-law's new Macbook Pro Retina. Audio is great as long as you set the audio settings to output it to the thunderbolt/HDMI connection.

This thing does its job very well. I've been using it with a 2013 MacBook Air with no issues whatsoever. The greatest thing is that it has display port, HDMI, and DVI. This was particularly handy because I changed monitors and didn't have to buy a whole new adapter. I've had this thing for quite a while and it seems to be fairly good quality. I haven't seen any other adapters with that many options.

So far so good! It works great with my 2013 Macbook Air both using OS X and Windows 8.1. I would definitely buy this again.
just a side note to some, the DVI port is a DVI-D as in Digital and not DVI-I and using a DVI-D to VGA connector does not seem to works to output VGA to any display or TV that I have tried. If you need VGA you should purchase a separate minidisplayport to VGA connector.

Monoprice has caught my attention this last year or two for quality products at a reasonable price. This adapter seems to support the positive impression so far. I've thrown some old-school DVI resolutions at it, as well as more modern wide-screen format displays, and it works well.
