DJs can put in some long hours as they spin the tunes and they need equipment that is both comfortable and rugged enough to withstand heavy use. These Monoprice Pro Headphones are designed for the professional sound spinner and the casual listener that wants the best quality sound and best durability available. The earpieces on these 'phones are equipped with thick, comfortable padding that keeps the music inside and the noise outside. They swivel up to 90 degrees so they can double as a makeshift set of speakers. The headphones can extend up to 1.5-Inch on each side and are wide enough to fit over a cap, while maintaining good contact over the ears. The headpiece is also padded on the inside and is made of flexible rubber, ensuring that it won't break. The headsets do not have a fixed wire. Instead, there is a 3.5 mm jack in the bottom of the left earpiece, which allows a standard 3.5 mm audio patch cable to be inserted. This means that if you break a wire, you don't have to throw away the headphones or make a messy repair; just get a new cable and you're ready to rock again! The 50 mm drivers and 100 dB sensitivity ensure that these 'phones produce good volume and premium sound clarity at all frequencies. The kit comes with two 3.5 mm male-to-male, gold-plated audio cables and a 3.5 mm to 1/4-Inch gold-plated adapter plug. The thicker cable is over 11.5 ft. long and is well suited for professional work and for laying back on your couch to enjoy the tunes. A thinner, lightweight cable is also included, which measures about 50-Inch in length and is better suited for more portable operations. High-quality sound, supreme durability, and maximum comfort. These ARE the 'phones you've been looking for!

>>> I've now had these for over a month and they perform very well. I've been on 4 flights (3 aircraft types) and they reduce the ambient noise by a large margin and again are perfect for the price. You can spend more to get better cancelling but these headphones strike a great price/performance ratio that I think is a great value.
>>> April update... a couple flights to Europe and back as well as some 5 hour domestic flights, great headphones, well worth the price.
I have several pairs of headphones. I have uses the LG tones that everyone loves, I have the SOL republic shadow wireless, I have a corded SOL republic pair of headphones, I have another pair of bluetooth headphones as well, I even have a corded pair of monoprice headphones and another corded sennheiser pair as well!
That all being said there are pros and cons to each of these. While my SOL republic are my favorite highly portable headphones because of the sound quality , they don't fit well in my ears no matter what tips I use. The old Monoprice ones I have were a little fatiguing on my ears and after a couple years the ear pads (over ear design) started to crack making them even less comfortable. They do still sound nice though and since they are standard corded headphones I can plug them into my highly secure work laptop.
I bought these to use at my desk at work with my phone paired via bluetooth. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the quality of the audio on these. They have a decent bass response and the highs and mids are above average as well. I have recently found myself drifting off while listening to music at my desk. Not in a bad way!
This is partially helped by the noise canceling. I have not owned a pair of active noise canceling headphones prior to this so I don't know how well this feature should work and with it turned on I do still hear external sounds so I have a feeling that there are better noise canceling headphones out there. One small test that I did though , I have a loud LOUD fan at my desk at work so I turned it on to test the noise cancelling. With the noise cancelling on almost all of the low end of the sound from the fan is blocked. The sound level is dramatically decreased.
Ports / functionality :
These headphones can be used with the USB charging cable plugged in and they also come with a standard headphone jack on the unit and a cable to connect them the old fashioned way. This makes the headphones even more useful for me because I can now use them to replace the headphones that I previously used at work to listen to things from my work computer.
The battery life on these things is another where they are exceeding my expectations. I have not been able to run them out yet. While I have not tried to find out how long they will run I have forgotten to charge them overnight a couple times and they managed to make it through my next workday with no issues.
These are the most comfortable headphones I have owned. They have an almost suede feel to the headphones covers the headphones feel light on my head and cause me ZERO discomfort even when wearing them an entire 8 hour workday. They seem to be well constructed with no obvious points of failure.
Then I threw a Hail Mary and tried these. How is it that a $70 set can nail comfort so much better than a $500 set? These are really, really good. Are they as good at battery or NC or sound quality as the other two (I won't even acknowledge the Vegas at this point)? No. But definitely better in comfort and for the money, probably a better buy.
Nice job, Monoprice.
Love love LOOOVE these headphones! Soundstage is massive. Everything has room to breathe, and imaging isn't half bad either. Bass, though not quite enough to rattle your brain loose, is exceptional. My only complaint with sound is the upper highs can get a touch irritating. Though, I may just need to give them time to break in.
This is where things fall off a bit. The pads are a bit shallow for my ears. They -juuust- brush the insides of the cups. Also the padding could be just a bit softer. Clamp is a bit excessive, so that's probably not helping matters. Got the Brainwavz XL's on the way. We'll see if those help. No padding on the head strap, but they're so light it doesn't matter.
Why are these not in your cart yet? Go. They're $30. They feel like they're $50. Sound like they're $100.
With the Brainwavz XL pads, these headphones can talk smack to $100 cans. Get the sheepskin for extra squishy love for your noggin. Also, while these cans aren't too difficult for a phone to drive, getting a decent dac/amp will make these come alive. Especially if you're using any audio format that's higher quality than MP3
