I did get it to work for my 15lb KEF100 speakers with a modification and plenty of frustration. (I already had holes in my wall so I wanted to try to make it work before sending back).
Here's my work around::
- I sawed off 5/8" of the threaded mounting-bolt, which puts the bracket right against the ball joint ... and less stress on the bolt. (Otherwise, my 15lb speaker bent the long threaded-bolt).
- The painful part is preemptively compensating the placement of the ball-joint. As you tighten the triangular screw the ball joint will move out of position. Try preempting a 45' angle plus slightly tilted down... and then matching that on the other speaker. Each time you do this, you have to tighten it extremely (I thought it would strip the threads honestly). If you don't tighten it extremely tight, my 15lb speaker eased down the ball joint.
Honestly, I should've known that a ball joint is not right for a heavy speaker.
And I should've checked Monoprice reviews -- which reflect the problem.
These will work fine for light speakers -- but nothing near 15lbs. Definitely not 22lbs.
The design has the majority of the bracket above the mounting screw, so if you have low profile speakers, these may stick up too far above the top of the speaker and will be an eyesore, especially if your keyhole is high on the rear of your speaker (as it is with my Polk TL1s). Because of this I purposely mounted the brackets upside down knowing that if my idea didn't work, I could always flip them later. My plan did work, and the top of the mount is flush with the top of the speaker (see image).
I will add to the above alternative installation that I would not use this method with large speakers. These brackets are rated at 22lbs, and I believe it. Upside down, I wouldn't go above 6 or 7lbs. I'm estimating that my speakers are about 5-6lbs, and mounted upside down, I don't think this bracket would hold. Upright, it has a 'slide in and lock down' resting position. Upside down, it has a 'slide in and lock UP' resting position. Now imagine a 22lb. speaker resting on a very small wood screw set in plastic. It wouldn't last long, if at all. For more on this, see below.
My only complaint about this mounting bracket is that there is a stabilizing screw that holds the two parts of the bracket in place. Normally, this screw is not meant to be weight bearing, but rather a stabilizing or locking screw to prevent one plate from slipping off the other (normally not a problem as it would need to slide up to be removed). Because I mounted my brackets upside down, that means this screw becomes more important than it would be otherwise as the speaker could slide down and off the mount without it. Just to be clear, I don't view this as a design flaw. What disappointed me however, is that one of the screws stripped the plastic very easily. I'm only allowing this to cost one star off my overall review because I realize this would not normally be a problem if mounted upright, even if you did manage to strip the plastic it would still hold the speaker just fine. I know that this is a budget mount and that means plastic is required, but my recommendation is to avoid any screws having to be set in plastic. Put a small metal screw housing and a machine screw, or even a metal clip locking washer to help prevent stripping. I fixed this with a small amount of liquid nails, but that means I will not ever be able to reuse these brackets. I'll need to destroy them to get them down. Good thing I had the perfect mounting locations.
Overall this is a great speaker mount. Budget price, but an otherwise premium mounting bracket. It has great flexibility in mounting and directional options and is easy to work with (even for someone who likes to make everything more difficult than it needs to be).

I bought these mounts for the ability to tilt and swivel with the ball joint. To my disappointment not only could the ball joint barely move in any direction but it couldn't stay in position with only 8 pound speakers.
To my amazement the metal plate the instructions had me install on my speakers was moving out of position with the swivel. Apparently, the ball joint is really just supposed to be straight out with no swivel but this isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Not to mention this was impossible as it wouldn't remain straight.
This ended up bending the mounting bracket on my speaker, because y'know it's not meant to put all the weight on one tiny section of the plate because the dumb mounting plate wasn't holding position with the swivel.
Thankfully, the speakers themselves aren't damaged. I just have to go out and buy a new mounting bracket.
Needless to say I'm returning the product.

The rest of the bracket's construction I'm a little less sure about. It says 22lb in the description but I think they meant 22lbs for both of the brackets together because the surrounds I use are Klipsch R-14M's which are small bookshelf speakers that each weigh 7.13 lbs and the bracket's plastic ball joint can't hold its weight at any angle, it needs to rest the corner against the wall where I put a little foam to reduce vibrations. I really doubt they actually could hold 22lbs because even with 7.13lbs on each they have about a quarter inch of play in just the bracket flexing. Its the old problem of combining plastic and metal parts together, metal on both sides and plastic in the middle means that the most force is being put on the plastic parts which is fine as long as its a good mold and material but if you have kids or animals that are likely to bump into these, find something metal to use because I could see them breaking with a good bump. The only other down side is they're ugly and not white so they don't blend in at all, they also have "MONOPRICE" written across the front of them but for the money they'll get the job done but just barely.

Mounting them is easy, it took me less than 10 minutes for both of them (running the wires on the other hand, not so much...) The only downside is that there is no passthrough for the wires in them so if you were planning on running the wires in you wall, they will stick out when you plug them in the speakers.
I would definitely not recommend those for heavier speaker, but they are perfect for smaller satellite speakers.
