If your vehicle has a slight sag in the rear and are wondering if these shocks will produce a harsh ride your worries are over. My vehicle now sits level, handles bumps and pot holes better than some new vehicles I have ridden in. They also have improved stability taking curves, and in high wind gusts. I noticed a smoother ride over almost all road surfaces and I am really happy with the choice. They put a smile on my face. I was fearful they would produce a bone jarring ride but to my surprise they perform better than an OEM shock in almost all situations. At Amazon I got the lowest price and the shipping was fast.

I purchased these shocks for my 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 4 door. There was a bit of a sag in the rear end, which is typical with dated shocks or leaf springs. These brought up the rear of my explorer even with the front and now it looks level. The ride is good, not rough or hard. I just towed my boat around, which weighs 2000 lbs and the shocks absorbed the weight perfect. There was a slight sag, but that was to be expected. The installation is much different from other shocks. You will need to place the bottom portion of the shock on a jack. Then position it to install the the top of the shock to the body of the vehicle. Then move the jack to the axle portion of the vehicle and jack the shock up to feed it into the sleeve. Other than that these are worth the money if you are looking to raise the back end a little or will be towing.

I have had OEM, Monroe Reflex and now the Sensa-Tracs on my 99 Mountaineer (Explorer). The Reflexes handled better, but the ride was way too rough. These Sensa-Tracs are a lot softer and feel more like an upscale SUV. There was hardly any body roll with the Reflex, there is body roll with these. Overall, I like these better as a daily driver shock. I have not towed anything with these yet so I don't know how well the helper springs work.

they come as a pair
had to do some digging to find that out before i bought them
BEST thing i ever did for my Explorer
as already stated fixed rear sag
also fix that "HOP" i use to feel on some rough patchs of roads
now i did replace the "5th" shock
look it up , amazon sells one for a real good price
its a dampener more than a shock
goes from rearend to frame
but back to these coilovers
they are a little stiff but i like that better than the "SWAY" of the cheaper ones i had bought earlier
you get what you pay for and these are WELL worth it
as stated before you'll need a jack to install
helps to have a second set of hands also
you'll need the jack to compress the shocks up enough to get the bottom bolt in , thats where having a buddy helps out
i couldnt be happier
LOVE these shocks !!!

I installed the set of Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks on a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer. The previous set of shocks were a set of Ranchos that were fairly stiff and overdue for a replacement. I chose the sensa-trac for added towing capabilities. The rear leaf springs seemed to be sagging (especially when towing). The added coil springs on the shocks gave the Mountaineer a good lift in the rear. The ride and the handling is great so far. It is a firm ride, but that is how I like it. I have only put 5000 miles since installation, but so far, no problems. Very pleased.

My daughter's 2001 Ford Explorer had the typical saggy rear and these shocks worked perfectly in giving it the lift it needed without replacing or adding to the leaf springs.
I would say it raised it a good two inches in the rear.

Two months ago my mechanic ( I was to busy to do it myself) installed KYTtrash gas saver shocks all around my truck, but the rear was still very low, so I purchased and installed Airlift air shocks and they worked out great as far as leveling out truck. Then online I stumbled across these, I purchased and installed myself with a helper and 2 jacks. The truck is a little higher in the rear and the ride is amazing ( I've bought 4 new MBenz vehicles in last 4 years, so I know a good ride) they are nice and firm, and handle very well over nyc potholes. Replacing the KYTrash in the front next week!!! Very happy.

Should have added these years ago. Not only raised the sagging rear leaf springs to normal ride height but handling is significantly tighter. Installation wasn't too bad. Hardest part was removing the rusty lower bolts from the shackle. Installation was easy using a single spring compressor and extra floor jack (axle doesn't drop quite low enough to just slip the shock into place without some compression). In all, took about an hour in the driveway. There's also an excellent step by step video on rear shock r/r on youtube just for the explorer.
