Technology Today

Advancements in technology have brought faster, higher definition products that are capable of processing large amounts of data but are also quite sensitive to the components that drive them. Too little power and these devices will not function at an optimum level, too much power and these devices can be damaged beyond repair.
Clean Power 2 The Ups and Downs of Power

AC Power by nature is ever-changing, appliances turning on and off in your home (as well as your neighbor's home) causes voltage to surge and spike, this is sometimes noticeable in the form of lights dimming. This causes a state of flux for the power running your delicate electronic devices which can have a negative effect on the functionality of those devices. Other conditions such as power outages and lightning strikes only increase this fluctuation.

When power returns after an outage it does not roll in gently like a ripple on a lake, it surges and spikes like a wave on an ocean during a hurricane. It is these surges that damage the delicate components in electronic devices making them unusable. Even under normal power operation, surges and spikes can damage electronic devices.

Proper connection to an advance surge protector that offers integrated system protection can help minimize the risk of permanent damage....

Protection You Can Rely On

Unlike standard surge protectors, the Monster PowerCenter HTS1000 MKII protection provides multiple layers of defense against harmful surges and spikes with patented Tri-Mode and exclusive T2 protection. The Microprocessor controlled T2 circuitry continuously minotors power conditions to not only block out surges and spikes, but also disconnects the PowerCenter and all of the connected devices. After power is disconnected, T2 circuitry continues to monitor power conditions and automatically reconnects the power once a safe condition is reached.

Protection is only part of the equation; Monster's Tri-Mode circuitry includes an audible alarm and an LED display that shows the current incoming power line voltage. No more guess work on troubleshooting high or low voltage conditions like spikes or brownouts.
350k LCW Keeping it Clean

Fluctuations in power are bad enough for proper electronic devices functionality; add the noise pollution in power lines created by the appliances in your home and outside interference, and protection is only the beginning of the requirement.

Electrical power tools, refrigerators, air conditioners, radio transmitters, cell phones- all generate electromagnetic interference and radio frequency noise which pollutes AC power.

The pollution in the power line has an adverse effect on the performance of electronic devices, preventing them from performing at at an optimum level. Video will not be as crisp and jittery; audio will sound unclear and accurate to the point of even having noticeable levels of buzzes and noise. Monster's Clean Power circuitry filters out power pollution by utilizing special filters to dramatically reduce electronic noise on your AC power line. You'll see a more vivid picture and hear more natural sound with increased dynamic range and less noise giving back the performance you never knew you lost...

Making Life Easier

In addition to protecting your valuable electronics, Monster PowerCenter provides convenience for connecting and placement generic surge protectors cannot. The FlatProfile plug allows for furniture to be flush with your walls, and the color-coded labeled outlets let you know just what is connected, no more unplugging the wrong device. All this combines with a generous 8-foot powered cord, ensuring that no wall outlet is out of reach...

I would not recommend purchasing MONSTER CABLE SURGE PROTECTORS, THEY are very difficult with honoring THEIR CONNECTION AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE WARRANTY. I HAVE THE HTS1000MKIII, THAT Was PURCHASED ON 2/12/2009. I HAD A SURGE ON AUGUST 18TH 2011 AND CALLED TO FILE A CLAIM, THEY REFUSED TO FILE THE CLAIM AND Would NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU HAS THEM RATED AS A C- BECAUSE SO MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WITH THIS COMPANY. I would not recommend the purchase their products again.
Follow up as of December 2011: I had to file complaints with the BBB and the Attorney General in my state in order to get them to finally take my claim seriously and honor it, which they finally decided to do.

After only 6 weeks four of the outlets stopped working. I am not even going to return this item, because I do not want a replacement. I will find something else locally. Monster used to have a good name, but the last 3 items I bought all failed. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.

I bought two of these from a local Monster dealer, Best Buy. One just died and the other started to buzz after only about a year of use. I also have a Whole Home Surge Surpressor on my electrical panel, so it would take all the hits long before it would get up to my TV etc., so they didn't die while saving me from anything.
I took them back and got two new ones... one of them was dead on arrival and the other one had a broken receptical.

Just ordered this monster power center because I recently lost a 1,000$ worth of equipment in my media center due to a lightning strike. I decided to spend a little more money on a surge protector so that it would not happen again. This product sounded good so I ordered it. When it came in I immediately plugged it in because it just so happened there was a bad storm out so I wanted to get it hooked up before anything bad happened again. I plugged everything up exactly as the directions stated yet when I went to turn it on... Nothing... the power center was dead and didn't work at all. I called Monster immediately and they said that it was a non working unit and that I just needed to either return it to Amazon or ship it to them to repair. Luckily Amazon has an amazing return policy so I just shipped it right back for a refund. I ended up ordering a new power center from Panamax. Not only does Panamax provide better protection, all they do is surge protection and power centers, they have better warranty, coverage, and their claims process is much easier than Monster. I don't think that I will order another overpriced Monster product again....

I have had the unit for a few years. It has just started making a loud humming / buzzing sound. Called Monster, and they will only return with the original receipt - which I no longer have of course. Given that the problem seems to be quite common, you would expect the company would do a better job of standing behind it.

I have purchased a lot of Monster products over the years. My expectation is that you pay more for them than comparable products, but that the quality is better, and the company stands behind their products. Apparantly, that is not true.

I bought mine from best buy less than 4 years ago and it just started making a loud buzzing sound like a cold florescent shop light and smelled of ozone. I unplugged it and called customer service and they said that they have changed their policy of standing by the quality of their product to only standing by it IF you have the original receipt. Well that certainly isn't expressed or implied on the packaging.
I've checked on the internet and this is a very common problem and Monster knows it, they just don't want to deal with it. $150 divided by 4 years is $37/yr. I am sure there are other products out there that can do as much as this did at a much better price. Heck, The extended warrantee at Best Buy is probably cheaper than this and everyone knows how much of a scam that is.
Monster won't help you. They don't want to help you. They just want to sell you pretty turds at very high prices and move on to the next sucker.
Avoid them.

I received the Monster HTS 1000 MKIII from Amazon about a week ago, after losing my DVD player, VCR, Tivo, and Wii to a massive power surge. I was immediately surprised by the size and weight of the unit. It is quite large, weighing several pounds and measuring just over 16" long by 5" wide by 3" high when laying flat. It feels quite sturdy, made of what appears to be brushed aluminum and black plastic or thermoplastic. The cord is long (6 to 8 feet) and is of high quality (true rubber, not vinyl or shiny plastic).

Upon plugging it in for the first time, you'll notice that it seems to check itself and the power coming into it. There is a brief delay, where it measures the voltage and checks for ground - something I immediately found reassuring. There is a circuit breaker/reset button on one end, a jack for a remote cable on the other end. Monster has included labels for your various cords, so you know what you're unplugging, as well as a coaxial cable, a phone cable, and a remote cable to connect it to a receiver.

I haven't yet had the "opportunity" to test the unit as a surge protector - and I hope I never do. I purchased this as a sort of insurance policy that I hope I never use. But should a surge hit, Monster provides a $350,000 warranty covering properly connected equipment. Good enough for me.

This unit is one of the more expensive surge protectors out there, but it's less expensive than an insurance deductible, and it's certainly less expensive than replacing your electronics. A good buy by any estimate.
