Assembly and Construction
The Monster High School contains a variety of pieces and decals. Our tester found it initially took about fifteen to twenty minutes to assemble everything included. The decals are small, but easy to apply to the miniature pieces. The High School consists mostly of plastic pieces, but seems to be well made. The designers put a lot of attention to detail, and the set includes numerous small elements from the Monster High universe, such as the tiny etchings on the Creepateria table and hangers in the lockers.

The "second" floor has a very hard time staying up or supporting any weight. The ladder is suppose to apparently support some weight, but it does this badly and slides off, often. Then you add the back part of it (the wall). That part is not straight, which would be ok if it was balanced, but it's not. It needs a box behind it to help it stand. Which defeats the decorations on the back side for the kids to play with. Overall, this was not worth the money. It's not bad, but I don't think it's good either.
I would not recommend this item.
This set is sure to please all those Monster High fans!
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: There have been a lot of comments about this playset (and other toys) being shipped in only their own packaging. That would totally ruin anyone's surprise! There's a quick fix for that though: at checkout, mark that the item is a GIFT and it will be shipped nice and snug inside an unmarked package! Surprise maintained.....
Of course, once you do manage to guess your way around how to put it together, it is flimsy as other reviewers have noted. Don't believe it when you read 35-40 minutes to put it together. Plan on a couple of hours. This has really soured me on Mattel and that is sad because I grew up with their products.
It would seem that they could have easily made the unfolded product more sturdy by providing some sort of notch or link at the center so that the walls don't wobble around. As it is, the "upstairs" portion just wobbles and tips while she plays.
Overall it is cute and my daughter loves to play with it, but it is definitely very overpriced for the quality.
