Top Customer Reviews
I hope you find this review helpful even if it is not entirely positive on the headphones. Many personal choices go into such a big purchase, and my hope is to provide some additional data points to help you make your decision. You can jump to the bottom to see my conclusion, or review each category I evaluated. Since most measurements are subjective to comparison, I used the Audio Technica and Bose QC-15 for most comparisons.
These are certainly the most fashionable and aggressive looking noise canceling headphones I have seen. Both the Bose and Audio-Technica look like nerdy pieces of technology with gray plastic housing and black bands. The Monster Inspiration look downright cool.Read more ›
The Monster Inspiration headphone set is Monster's first foray into the realm of active noise canceling (ANC) headphones. At the price point ($350 full retail), Monster is putting their new product in very direct competition with Bose, the undisputed champion of ANC phones. It is very difficult to say which headset is better as it really depends on how the phones are to be used. Bose excels on some points where Monster is better at others.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
When it comes to ANC, there is absolutely no question that Bose implements a much better and much more aggressive solution for ANC. These are the phones against which all others compare and these are the ones that most travelers would want on a plane. When I first turned on Monster's ANC function I was really disappointed as it seemed like they did not really help much at all in noisy environments. However, as I have used them more I have discovered that they do get better. There is apparently truth in the notion that headphones need a "break-in" period before reaching their true potential.
Once broken in, the Monster ANC isn't bad. It does work and it does cut ambient noise such as air handling units and computer fans to some degree, though Bose still filters out more sound.Read more ›
Beats Studios? Ha! I love Dre, I still have my NWA tapes, but I'm sorry, Studios are mud wrapped in shiny plastic that rely on how awesome those triple A batteries are inside them things! Soon as those things go, you got a great shiny set of dead-beats! The only reason I would ever recommend the Beats over the Inspiration is if you're reppin' that gansta' hip hop thug life! Beats are the FUBU of headphones. They come in so many colors to match your swagger, son! Word! I used to own a pair of Studios. I gave them to my mom so she can rep the streets! Hollaback, Ma!
Bose QC15s? I won't lie. These are incredible headphones, and the Active Noise Cancellation is the boss compared to anything Monster spits out. Unfortunately, they are like bowling shirts -- no style whatsoever. Trust me, there are countless nasty looking headphones that sound like diamonds trickling down the hands of God. So if you're hella' old and don't want to stand out but still wanna show the world that you can afford overpriced headgear then get the Bose QC15.
Now back to the INSPIRATION! Monster makes them.Read more ›

AMAZING quality by Monster! The sound is so robust with these things! They are a bit heavy, so they wouldn't be ideal to do anything active in. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Landon Verkerk
