When Laura John announced she was writing a dark romance, I was intrigued. After loving all the emotion and twists in her Love in Sienna series, I couldn’t imagine where she might go. Donovan is quite the departure!! He’s a scary, controlling semi-stalker that you find yourself wanting to hug sometimes, and you definitely want him to find love, when you’re not wanting to smack him on the behalf of all independent women.😳😂 The writing about the connection between him and Paige is top notch from the beginning. The side characters of Leanne and Sway add depth and comic relief with some of the banter, as well as drama. I hope their story isn’t over.😉 Without spoiling anything, I will say this book has one of the biggest plot twists I’ve read in a long time! I had to stop and reread to verify what I thought I saw!👀😂 I enjoyed the suspense and action aspects, as well. I really appreciate how carefully Laura handles such sensitive topics. I urge anyone who wants to take a trip into a darker world to give this amazing book a chance!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The plot and the characters were fantastic, I was very intrigued in the story and I didn't put the book down until the last page.
Lots of drama and angst but also lots of very entertaining moments. I love the heroine Paige, she is sassy, intelligent, caring and would fight our antihero Donovan every single time. I love her!!!!
Donavan is the bad guy, who thinks doesn't have a heart. His life is full with nothing. He has no family or friends and he likes it that way until by chance Paige is there to help him when no one else would've. Donovan becomes infatuated with Paige and he needs to protect her at all cost.
Even though is a slow burn kind of dark romance there is LOTS of sexy scenes between these two. Their chemistry is something Paige can't explain and she is pull towards Donovan. They are complete opposites but they are so good together.
Fantastic story and I can't wait for what's to come from Laura!!!
