I bought this because of the raving high star score vs times bought. But I guess its not worth it to some people to review. I had a terrible experience with this product. The feedback is terrible, I couldnt even hear the music over the cassett running itself, and every so often there was a sharp feedback noise. THat was totally loud where I was trying to get the music. Please save your money. It looks nice, but it doesnt work. Im gonna proptly return, Im just so dissapointed I had to write a warning review for anyone else interested in this. The autozone version is MUCH better and you dont gotta wait for shipping. Just saying.

I have an older model Volkswagen with a great stock stereo but no bluetooth or aux inputs. I have been through almost ten different adapters mostly from Bestbuy. Those bestbuy adapters have all sounded great except for the poor electrical shielding which picks up on static when you are near high output power lines, or airports. Those adapters all lasted about a month before they were just complete garbage. So I thought having been familiar with the monster brand Microphone and guitar cables this would be great. This adapter has a feature in which the top of the unit pops open so you can change the position of the cable for your particular stereo. My first adapter broke immediately when i popped the top of the unit open and was not even that upset as I was able to kind of rig it up so that was not a terribly big deal but after i popped it into my cassette player I realized that the entire left side of the car speakers were not even playing. So i popped it out put my old static ridden bestbuy unit back in and all of the speakers were playing so I know it wasnt an issue with my speakers. So I began the turn process and amazon quickly sent me a new adapter. The second one did not break but it was hard to even get the tape player to register it and when i finally fiddled around with it enough to get it to work I had the same issue. Only the right speakers were playing. I dont know if its the wiring or what the specific problem is but it is definitely the adapter and not my car. I am now going to bite the bullet and just upgrade my stereo to a bluetooth compatible stereo. WASTE OF MONEY SAVE YOURSELF THE PROBLEMS

I will immediately disclose that I just received this product and so I can't speak of its lifespan. But I have found the audio quality to be tremendous. I got a car this week, a used early-2000s Honda CR-V, from my brother. Unfortunately, the car has a CD player and a cassette slot, but no aux port, so he had always used a cassette adapter when he wasn't using CDs. The old cassette adapter was left in the car when I got it, and it did work, but the plug wasn't secure in my phone's jack, coming loose with very little force, and the sound quality was no better than FM radio, perhaps worse. I ordered this cassette adapter from Monster to replace it, knowing their reputation for going overboard when building audio gear. It does cost more than most of these cassette adapters, but once you plug in and start playing, you understand. Worth every penny. I've always secretly loved having a reason to leave the house so I can sing along to my favorite music in the car, and now that I have my own, this device has made it so the lack of an aux port won't mean the end of my fun. Get one while they're still around! They've been discontinued!

I currently own the older Monster iCarPlay cassette adapter that I got at Walmart and it still works but is starting to wear out (cassette adapter flips sides more and more frequently, interrupting audio output). It’s my second iCarPlay adapter after the first one wore out after a year or so. The current one is over a year old and typically cassette adapters last 1-2 years. I bought this current version from Amazon. The first current version I received kept flipping sides constantly from the start until my tape player spit it out. Thinking this was a fluke I got a replacement from Amazon. The second one worked fine for about 15 minutes and then started flipping again too much and my tape player eventually spit it out. So there was an improvement but still malfunctioned after a short time. So I returned this item and I am disappointed the current Monster cassette adapter is junk for whatever reason. The audio quality on Monster adapters is the best I’ve ever heard but there’s no point if it does not work properly. I read another review that had an almost identical experience after trying two of these cassette adapters. The problem is not my cassette adapter as my original iCarPlay adapter still works great for much longer periods of time than this version I tried.

My boyfriend has had this adapter in his truck for about 2 years now, and it has seemed to work quite well.
I had ordered another type of tape adapter on Amazon and it worked alright for a month or two and then one day, some wires in the plug part stopped working completely so I had to throw it out.
I ended up ordering this one, which I should have gone with in the first place. Rightfully so, it is a bit more expensive than other adapters but you get what you pay for, and this product is durable and well made. I would highly recommend it over other adapters!

Bought this October 2013, and it stopped working last week, September 2019. Can’t say I’m disappointed in that life expectancy, when I’ve been using it about 5 hours a week the last two years, and intermittently (average 30 minutes a week) prior. Sound quality and build quality was excellent for the category. It’s replacement is not nearly as good, but I’m not paying $47 for something I paid $9 for in 2013. So I guess I’ll settle for inferior sound quality. Wish you kept making this product, Monster!

I'm glad I spent a bit more money and got this one. The difference between this and my old tape adapter is huge. This one has clearer sound, the cable is high quality, and it doesn't make much noise in the tape player, just a very slight whirring. Overall, I'm satisfied.

The build seemed cheap. The plastic for the gears seemed a bit flimsy
There was a light clicking and audible clicking noise when it was inserted. Had to turn up volume to ignore it
