4 ½ Stars – Montana Hearts: Her Weekend Wrangler

A delightfully sweet romance, Montana Hearts will simply leave you with a smile on your face and a flutter in your heart.

After high school Bree Collins decides to leave her hometown of Fox Creek and head for New York in search of her dream of success. But when she finds out her ex has cheated on her, she returns home hoping to help her family with their guest ranch. When she discovers their business is in trouble, she decides to seek the assistance of their neighbor, Ryan Tanner. Ryan is having some difficulties of his own training a foal, and knowing Bree’s magical talent of working with horses, he offers her a trade. As inexplicable mishaps and sabotage begin to occur at both of their ranches, Bree and Ryan begin working together to get to the bottom of those occurrences. As the attraction they’d always felt for each other growing up begins to reawaken inside of them both, Ryan and Bree begin to imagine the dream of a future together. But when misunderstandings bring Bree’s uncertainties of the past once again to the forefront, can Ryan make her believe in him and see that she has always been the girl in possession of his heart?

In spite of Bree and Ryan’s inner struggles to try and maintain a hold on the lure and emotional pull they feel for one another, you can still feel the sparks flying between them. The connection Bree quickly begins to develop with Ryan’s son Cody is charming and you could feel how the interactions between them tugged at Ryan’s heart. There are only a handful of stories I have read which include a child from a past relationship, but I really love it when a bond forms between those characters.

A very enjoyable read from this new to me author. She has a nice writing style and great characters and character development. I will definitely be looking for more from her. In this book we have Bree Collins returning home to Montana from NYC. Her family needs help on their guest ranch after her father suffers an injury. What they don't know is that she needs to be there as much as they need her. After being dumped by her boyfriend and losing her job her self esteem is at an all time low but she knows she can do a good job at the ranch. With a little help from the very handsome neighbor Ryan Tanner that is. Is she willing to trade favors with this cowboy and if she does will she come out of it with her heart in one piece??

I highly recommend this one.

Montana Hearts warmed my heart. It is the first in a series and centers on Bree, one of three grown siblings who all end up back at the family ranch. When Bree agrees to manage the dude ranch, she's faced with hiring a weekend wrangler. Wouldn't you know that the guy who is available is her old high school flame? He needs a favor in exchange so they are forced to see one another regularly. The lighthearted tone of this book makes it a delightful read. I can't wait to read book two in the series.

Fun characters and an engaging plot, make this a great read. I wondered a bit since I've never before read a romance novel and I know more about My Little Pony than about real horses and ranching, but I sure enjoyed this delightful story and meeting these characters. While this novel certainly stands alone, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series...there is so much left to this story!

Loved every minute of this book right here! Sweet, romantic, and horses... A well written book that you can't say no to! Characters will make you fall in love over and over and over with them as you keep reading. The plot of the story will make you feel as if it's your life you're living. An all around amazing book!

Her Weekend Wrangler is a sweet story about two people who lost out on their chance in high school and take a chance on love the second time around. There is a large cast of characters, her family and siblings, his family and siblings, his ex-wifes family, and a few friends. There is a suspenseful aspect to the story as people are sabotaging both Ryan and Bree's farms, and a number of twists and turns, and even a supposed conclusion until the real culprit is revealed.

The biggest challenge I had with this book is that I felt like I was just skimming the surface of the story. The book was heavy in dialogue and there wasn't much internal narrative for the reader to get to know the characters better. At times there were be a few sentences thrown in here or there, but in all, I just wasn't able to absorb myself into this story. There were also times that I felt a sentence or two was thrown in just to create a scenario that wasn't relative to the real story at hand. In general, I felt a lot of the circumstances the characters were experiencing were contrived - the heroine hasn't been on a horse in ten years because her favorite mare died in childbirth - and she blamed her father and a boy from high school. The fact that Bree was constantly easily manipulated by the "fake" CEOs (which I could see coming a mile away) and other situations like that just made many aspects of the story seem implausible.

I did like the ranch and farming aspects of the story. I liked how they showed Bree calming and training a new filly, and even Ryan's role in that storyline. I was looking forward to more about the mini roundup that just didn't really come to fruition, etc. In general, its a sweet read, but just didn't dig deep enough into the emotional aspects of the main characters to draw me into the story. I felt like lots of times the author was "telling me" things that she could have "shown me" through her words to draw me in, but she didn't.
