an incredibly sweet love story

This novella is set in the Montana Sky kindle world, but it can definitely stand alone. I had no knowledge at all of the Montana Sky series when I read it, but I absolutely adored this novella and the characters in it.

Hampton Wells is a reserved, stubborn man who has a secret he's ashamed of, but who also refuses to ask for help. He lives his life getting by with the skills that he has, convinced that he will never be any woman's first choice. Until Rosina walks into his train station and right into his heart. Rosina is a sweet, kind woman who sees beyond Hamp's self-perceived flaws and sees the man that he really is. She's such a strong but (yes) gentle character that I couldn't help but adore her.

One of the many things that Reina Torres does well when she writes novellas is making a lot happen in a short period of time without ever rushing things or having things happen on an unrealistic timeline. Not every writer can do this, but Ms. Torres excels at it. Their courtship is sweet and yes, the attraction happens fast, but they don't immediately declare their love or fall hopelessly, passionately in love within a day. There is emotional struggle and stubbornness (so much stubbornness) and an incredible amount of wonderful sweetness. Ms. Torres has tremendous writing talent, and whenever I read one of her novellas I am drawn into the story and find myself fully invested in what happens with her characters – so much so that I fought falling asleep at 1am while reading this one because I wanted to see how it ended.

If you like an incredibly sweet love story about two people who are obviously meant to be together fighting to make it work along with a slew of likable characters, you should definitely read this one!

TWO HEARTS BROUGHT TOGETHER DURING A SNOWSTORM

I enjoyed this great addition to the Montana Sky and Wandering Hearts series. The story will read as a standalone. Heavy snowstorms will halt the train in Sweetwater Springs, stranding the passengers and will bring two lonely hearts together.

Rosina Valero was orphaned, learned to be a teacher, but is once again unemployed, alone, and seeking a new teaching position. Although she is alone in the world but has a kind heart and is looking out for an elderly widow also on the train.

Hampton Wells is filling in at the train depot in Sweetwater Springs, but he is hampered with a secret that he fears will cost him his job if it becomes known. What happens when one of the stranded passengers makes him want more in life? When she learns his secret, will she shun him?

Fate plays a part in bringing two souls, both needing a special someone in their lives. Facing the fear of rejection and shame is quickly averted because Rosina’s kindness is genuine. The story is clean and shares a reality of what life is like without a good education.

Her Gentle Heart is a short sweet story about Rosina Valero and Hampton Wells . Rosina's train gets stuck in Sweetwater Springs due to a winter storm. Rosina ends up helping another passenger who falls ill during the storm. Rosina starts to help Hampton with a burden he has been keeping a secret from everyone. They start to fall in love, but she ends up leaving on the train and working for the woman who falls ill. Will Hampton follow her to her new city or stay behind? This was my first book by Ms. Torres and an enjoyable read.

A young woman looking for a new job is snowbound on a train and meets a man who could possibly be her future husband. The hero has a problem that our heroine helps him with.

I liked the storyline, it had just enough trials for the couple but not enough to be boring. It drew me in and wouldn't let me go until the last page. The characters had faults but also enough strength to see them through.

Snowstorm helps bring two people together.

A snow storm stops the train in Sweetwater Springs. One elderly lady passenger, Mrs. Cooper, is very ill. The local doctor and his wife take her in along with the young lady who had been sitting with her, Rosina. Meanwhile Hampton is trying to take over the depot/post office while the regular man is off on a vacation. Trouble is, Hampton cannot read or write, and this station is not set up like the others he has worked in where he can just match up the words on the envelopes with the cards beneath the postal slots. He hasn't put any mail away for several days, and it is piling up. When Rosina brings food for the train men who are trying to dig out the tracks from under the snow piled up, she sees all these bags of mail and packages, and starts putting them in the correct slots by reading a list of who goes into which slot in the town. Hampton comes in suddenly and sees what Rosina is doing, and gets very upset. When Rosina offers to help to teach him to read, he feels her pity and refuses. They go round and round until he finally accepts her help. When the tracks are cleared, Rosina goes to stay with Mrs. Cooper as a lady's companion, and writes to Hampton and he to her. Suddenly no more letters come from Hampton. What has happened? Then finally an envelope comes with 2 letters inside, and Rosina's life will change again.

A quick, sweet, enjoyable, historical romance

Her Gentle Heart is a sweet historical romance set in the late 1800’s. This novella is part of the Montana Sky kindle world, but can be read as a standalone. (I have not read any books of the Montana Sky series-yet) This is a short read but Ms. Torres gives you the complete story without rushing the storyline. The characters are developed and the story is captivating. I enjoyed that Hampton, the male lead, was flustered around Rosina, the female lead. They both had an instant attraction to each other, but there are some struggles to overcome. Rosina has such a giving heart and caring soul that she is the perfect match for Hampton. After a few heavy reads, this novella was just what I was looking for – a quick, sweet, clean romance that kept me engaged. I really enjoyed reading Rosina and Hampton' story. I’ve recently discovered Reina Torres and am a fan of her writing. I look forward to reading her books I haven’t gotten to.
