Brady’s main job is being a police officer. He also plays the drums on the side in a band with his (equally sexy) brothers. Doesn’t get much hotter than that. He keeps to himself, keeping up those walls around his heart. He may come off as standoffish or a guy with zero emotion... But he’s just misunderstood… and keeps his heart a little bit guarded. Is he quiet & reserved? Definitely. Does he express his emotions & feelings very well? Nope. He feels the need to protect – everyone. He needs the perfect person to break down those walls. He needs to let someone in and take care of HIM for a change.
Ming is strong-minded, highly intelligent, and knows what she wants. For the last 7 months, she’s been taking what she wants…but now she wants more. She puts her foot down, waiting to see if what (and who) she wants will come to her.
As usual, Bethany’s storytelling is fabulous. We get a great story with the perfect blend of laughs, drama, and steaminess. This book is #7 in the Time For Love series. You don’t have to read the others before this, but I really think you should – because they’re awesome & fun with characters that feel REAL. And if you read the others first, it will make reading 7 Months much more enjoyable.
Ming and Brady have been sleeping together for 7 months very casually and in secret. Brady is a policeman and Ming is a lawyer and they have lots of friends in common. Ming’s best friend is married to Brady’s brother. Brady is very introverted, he was deeply affected by his parents’ death at a young age and he thinks he’s not cut out for relationships. Ming is head over heels for Brady and she’s feeling the pressures of being in a serious relationship and settling down. She’s a career driven woman and a successful attorney. When Ming tells Brady to get serious or get out, Brady must make a decision about their future or risk losing Ming forever.
I really loved both characters, especially Ming. She’s super strong and not afraid to go for what she wants. Brady definitely grows on you, once you understand his backstory and what he’s thinking, you’ll grow to like him. I love the relationship between Brady and his brothers and Ming and her friends. They’re a tight bunch that love each other deeply. I loved that the story flows really well, and rather fast and that there’s no unnecessary relationship drama. The relationship between Ming and Brady is strong, sweet and super hot!
This is book 7 in a series of standalone books. Every book is about a different couple. Now, I have to admit that I haven’t read all books in the series but I had no problem catching up with all the characters. But now I am super intrigued by some of their stories so I have added them to my TBR, especially since they are relatively short books.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed this story and I will absolutely recommend it if you’re looking for something short, sweet and light!
7 Months by Bethany Lopez is the seventh book in the Time For Love series, but can be read as a standalone as I did. Having finished the book, I recommend reading the others in the series first to get the full experience and understand the other relationships. Even with that said, I thought that this was a great story. It had everything that I always look for in the books that I read- steamy sex scenes (Score! - pun intended), great banter, minimal angst, and a happily ever after.
This story follows the last O’Malley brother Brady, a newly minted police officer, and his secret relationship with Ming, a lawyer who is his sister in laws best friend. Brady, having been slightly emotionally scarred with his parent’s death as a teen, shy’s away from relationships and anything more than a good time. Something attracts him to Ming and they begin a friends with benefits, no strings attached, sex only (it’s hot!) affair. They have this unexplainable raw sexual chemistry that makes him keep coming back. The downfall being that Ming falls for him. Hard.
“Being in a non-relationship with a man I loved who only wanted me for sex may be a bad thing, but being bad had never felt so damn good.”
After seven months (Get it? 7 months) of late night booty calls, Ming decides that she deserves more and ends the no strings relationship. This opens Brady’s eyes to what he really wants and he pulls his head out of his ass. He steps out of his comfort zone to woo Ming back to him and take an honest stab at a real relationship- His first ever. Brady realizes that Ming is it for him and won’t ever give her up. When Ming is threatened, he will move heaven and earth to make sure that they will always be together.
“How close I came to losing you, the seven months I wasted, not knowing what I had that entire time, and it hit me. I love you. I left my desk and walked out, not saying a word to anyone. I just knew I had to see you, to tell you in person.”
I really liked both Brady and Ming. Brady was honest from the get go and it was Ming who broke the rules. Once he got passed his hang ups, he becomes the book boyfriend of all book boyfriends. Even with Ming changing the rules, I really liked her as well. She was a strong woman who went with the no strings sex until she just couldn’t anymore. She felt that she deserved more and understood that it was her who had changed the game, not Brady. It didn’t hurt any less, but she didn’t blame him. Brady needed her to walk away for him to realize what she meant to him. I hurt for them equally as they went through their emotional hang ups.
The secondary characters added so much to the story. It made me want to go back and start the first books in the series while I was reading just to I could catch up (I will someday!). They were all so close, I could feel the affection and love for each other while I was reading. Everyone had something to contribute to the friendships and were there for one another. It was the best kind of friendships, and the kind that you don’t see as often as you should. Hell, I wanted to be friends with them.
If you haven’t read 7 Months yet, you need to get on that. Stat. Maybe even get the whole series. It will be worth it.
