The danger of coming war became more real, and both Chevakia and Peria must form an alliance against the raging violence of aranian princes who desire to take the throne and defeat their opponents. But there are major changes on the horizon, and not everyone is willing to accept them... Javes came back to Tiverius, closing his quest and deciding his future life. Lana decided to take her capture and new position in Mother's House as an opportunity to change a whole country. King Isandor went on a rescue mission to get his fiancée back, and even Jevaithi drops all pretenses and becomes finally herself.
Though the final installment was quite extensive, I cannot imagine it being shorter because it would definitely not cover all the issues. For a long time, we were following the fates of several protagonists in parallel without the obvious connection, but now that it came to an end, there is a mastermind plot uncovered and all the puzzle pieces are making sense.
The book was written brilliantly, smooth-flowing and fast pacing, keeping the suspense and mystery on high level so I went on and on until the last page. Development and events are natural, realistic and the detailed world-building sets the story into enchanting landscapes. The political machinations are also very well constructed and give the book a real feel.
I loved the main characters and observing their development. Lana became mature, grown-up woman with grandiose ambitions and confidence no less than necessary to make her dreams come true. Javes found his happiness in the least expected place. Isandor fought hard to establish his own family and protect his country, and Jevaithi finally started to act reasonably and follow her instincts and feelings.
Action-packed story with a variety of emotions, dangers, suspense and drama that is a must-read for all fans of dystopian books. Awesome climax of fascinating series!
