A Ghost of a Chance by Owens is part of a series, but can be fully enjoyed as a stand-alone. This was a great story and my favorite of the anthology!
Dangerous Dreams by McKenzie I loved this story, right up until the end. I was very disappointed that it wasn't a complete story and ended with a cliffhanger. I wish writers would warn the reader in advance so they aren't taken by surprise. As far as I know, the ending of their story isn't even available yet.
Myths and Legends 101 by Kelley This was a very enjoyable story and had some funny moments.
The Keeper by Saracino This story kept me guessing and moved along pretty fast.
Witch You Were Here by Bonatch This was a very quick read and had some humor and surprises.
Dangerous Dreams by J.C. McKenzie:
I'm already familiar with J.C. McKenzie and her awesome Carus series so her short story was great. I was sad to learn there was only one more Carus book, but soooo happy to see there is a new series coming. One of the things I really liked was how her characters have conversations, sometimes very funny ones, with their alter-egos/shifter animals. I'm really looking forward to this new series and curious to see how Lara and Rafael are going to dance around each other. Lara seems to have the right touch of snarky like Andrea does in the Carus series.
A Ghost of a Chance by Abigail Owen:
I have only read one other book by the author but I loved it. Her Demigod Complex: In Love With Her Demigod Billionaire Boss, yes it has a billionaire, yes it has him and his PA interested in each other, but it is so ... cute and well-done. After reading this story, and the one book I read before, I'm curious to read other books set in the world of Legendary Consultants. It was light-hearted, had the right touch of humor, and the right amount of everything else. It is sometimes hard to write a short story and have it still be a robust and satisfactory read.
The Keeper, by Sharon Saracino:
This story had a few things that I like to read in stories. A smart ME, a hint of a mythological/paranormal world, and awesome shifters. I kinda had a hint of what Olivia shifted into so the added bonus of the mythology and ancestry behind what she was was a nice touch. Oh, and so was Nick~ I will say though that I felt like there might be more to Olivia's story ... or maybe it was wishful thinking? Who knows~
Myths and Legends 101, by L.A. Kelley:
This was a cute story, not my favorite of the bunch, but I still enjoyed it. Maybe it didn't have as much of the paranormal aspect for me that the other stories did. It kinda read like a scary story or an urban legend.
A Ghost of a Chance by Abigail Owen - Stars - 5
I love a good ghost story and I really enjoyed this one. I laughed several times when Josie talked to her brother's ghost while trying to hide doing it from Bryce. I sighed as Josie finally trusted Bryce enough to spill the beans.
Dangerous Dreams, by J.C. McKenzie - Stars - 5
There be dragons here! I love dragons and I loved this story! Lara intrigued me by hiding her dragon nature and the mystery surrounding her. Raf and his dragon, plus the twist and the secret will have you begging for more.
Myths and Legends 101, by L.A. Kelley- Stars – 4
This books as twists that I didn’t see coming. Which is unusual for me. LA Kelley is a new author to me. The predicament Jim finds himself makes the story, I think. But I loved Toshi, he was entertaining. Made me laugh. The ancient evil caught me by surprise. But all’s well that ends well. Right?
The Keeper, by Sharon Saracino - Stars – 4.5
Another new author for me. I enjoyed her fun story. There were so many secrets and unexpected agendas it kept you guessing. I liked that. Olivia, well, my lips are zipped on that one. As with most short stories, I wanted more and you will too.
Witch You Were Here, by Maureen L. Bonatch - Stars – 4
Another fun one filled with regrets and redemption. Lucy is high-spirited. Shane was iffy but ok by the end. High school years are tough, revisiting the history later in life is no fun. Will they come clean and work it out? I’m not telling but there is a great HEA ending. Read it to find out the secrets. LOL
Over all this collection of stories gets a high recommendation from me!
