These are kinda like that, but a little thicker and shaped into blue rectangles that are approximately 1" x 2".
you can stick them to any part of your drum head to dampen sound as needed. They even work on cymbals if you're looking for a quicker decay!
The closer to the center (or more pads you use), the more dramatic the effect. You can also cut them to get more pieces out of them if needed. If you drop them or they end up getting too dirty to stick to anything, you can wash them in the sink with dish soap and air dry them.
I've been using them for years and they work amazingly!
This gel functions as it’s supposed to do. I don’t use it on instruments. I use it as a cheaper way to clean turntable needles. I have the expensive Onzow Zerodust, which works great. But I have multiple turntable stations, and don’t want to keep moving the Zerodust around. I think this Moongel is softer than the Zerodust. If it wasn’t for the contamination, I’d rate this five stars. But I have no way of knowing what the history or manufacturing of this gel is.
These will work on all your drums and your cymbals too. Use a finger to scan around for the right place to put them. I find two can work really well at 120° from each other. On cymbals if you don’t like the high whine from a hihat you can put one on the bell. You can cut these in half for less muting and also orient them radial or not...radial mutes more overtones less.
Only minus is they leave a slight blue tint on your heads, but this is a help for putting them back in the same place if you need to. They hold pretty well when clean, you can store the drum with them on. But easily repositioned.
Feline friends love pulling them off my drums in the middle of the night. They haven't fully devoured one yet, and they are non-toxic, but it gets a bit pricey to replace something that I found usually lasts almost forever with regular cleaning.
Now , there is a place for moon gels, and for me it is in the studio on my PAISTE Signature Ride cymbal to just take the edge off on a few songs that I had to record. I tune my snares (as a rule) very high in the Funk range, and I found that this keeps things dry and my stick work doesn't suffer. If I want to play a Rock type sound on that same drum on the next set , it's just a matter of de-tuning the lower 3 lug (one full turn on the bottom and 1 1/2 turns on the left and right bottom).........or you can just use some moon gels to muddy it up a bit. I have found that experimentation is key to good tuning and therefore good playing, resulting in smiles on the faces you are playing to.
I won't lie , I have used moon gels before and love the stuff. Very good and not just for percussion instruments. Bottom Line : Yes , I recommend this product and yes , I will buy it again and from this seller
One small afterthought.....these were stuck together quite a bit because my pack came with 2 free pieces. Take your time , be careful and just pull it apart.

But all I can say is they work really really well. They remove all of the overtones caused by my snare by only using two. They worked just as well on my cymbals too!
Don’t hesitate to try these, they work and good quality.
After opening the box, I put my fingers on the top and bottom of the case to move it. When I pulled my hand away, the ink of the logo on the top came off with absolutely no effort, leaving black residue all over my fingers.
Then when I opened the pot, I found the gels to already be covered in dirt and dust, and in between. The photo doesn't quite capture just how much dirt is stuck on them. Pretty disappointed in the presentation.
Otherwise though, they work. They sound good and generally hold their stickiness for some time.
I have been using these for probably two months and that is the only negative.
Great value, great product, recommend the purchase.
