Teenage Shane grew on me pretty quickly but Jesse was the one who I fell for. He was great. I loved his first meeting with Shane and how he didn't let Shane walk all over him. I really loved watching their love bloom. I just wished Jesse was more self-confident. But they were so sweet together.
I was happy to see grown up Shane start to mature through this book. He found himself attracted to Kayden and put himself out there even though Kayden acted like a jerk toward him. Kayden treated Shane like he had the plague. We find out why later in the book. Shane wore him down but as they spent time together, their relationship felt more like friendship and physical attraction than a real connection.
I really loved seeing the two relationships play out side by side and I loved the ending.
Well written and edited, the second edition of Moonlight Becomes You is a must-read for fans of the series, as well as those readers who are new to the Lucky Moon stories. The "sex, drugs and rock-and-roll" lifestyle, music, romance, drama, and fresh storyline development bring familiar characters back to life in a whole new way. I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of this series!
For some reason, even though there were several faults in this story, I found it more than awesome and enjoyed every word.
Firstly, I liked the celebrity rock band setting: the constant parties, the scenes on stage, the on goings of the tour, and the whole life of "sin" was believably created with not going overboard.
Secondly, I liked the cast of characters overall, they were angsty and illogical and self-destructive and lonely and entertaining and just people to root for.
The story was, however, quite short and needed more action and dialogue to make it more substantial. There wasn't directly anything lacking but something "extra" would have made me love the book even more.
Character wise I would have, however, preferred slightly more insight into Kayden, he wasn't present as much as I would have liked him to be, but then again it did cement his mysteriousness and aloofness. It all made me very anxious and excited to get to the detailed bottom of his hostility towards Shane and how it would unravel, even though, I had unfortunately already spoiled myself regarding that twist. And the revelation climax didn't disappoint, despite it being kind of predictable, still - swoon!
Luckily, there are also additional small novellas that show the story after the book and also before. I think they are like the icing on the cake and the characters and their stories are nicely wrapped up with a bow on top.
Kayden was gorgeous, icy, talented and full of mystery. Despite his slightly larger than life star aura he could also be charming and polite with everyone except Shane and Nick. I was confused about his changing feelings and erratic behavior, but it was interesting to follow the I-want-you-I-don't-want-you attraction battle. Kayden definitely came out victorious, but he had his soft moments that were sunny, sexy and sweet. I loved the way he acted in the end after all had been said and done - such a loving cutie.
Shane was a mess, unhappy and haunted by his past and mistakes made. Nonetheless, he tried to act responsibly towards the band, even though, inside he was falling apart with his rock star lifestyle also taking its toll. He was jaded and in need of a spark that would lit up his existence again, which eventually did take fire with the appearance of Kayden. Shane was obsessed with him but felt guilty since he would betray the memory of his feelings for Jesse. Oh Jesse - he was such an adorable geek! I just want to pinch his cheeks! Anyway, Shane was spiraling downwards till Kayden stopped him and despite the constant denials, animosity, hot-cold behavior and snubbing from the Ice Prince, Shane felt more alive than ever. They made a dysfunctional, immature and volatile, but scorching sexy couple. I really loved them together, even though there weren't enough scenes in my opinion between them to make me happy.
The rest of the two bands were your typical sexy and bad rock stars, but I had a soft spot for Em, the manager of Luck. He seemed like such a sweet cutie and his friendship with Kayden was like a couple of great girl friends - gossiping and giggling.
I read the second book in the series The Luckiest before this (that is how I spoiled the twist) and while overall, the latter was in a sense better story, character and plot wise, I liked Moonlight Becomes You more - I guess the whole situation, the journey and how it would turn out gripped me more. Plus, it's a fun and sexy m/m romance, so of course I like!
Eagerly awaiting the rerelease of the second story in this series, but have already read the third installment of this series. I love a good series and am excited whenever I find well written stories that include characters and places from previous stories.
This author is also very generous with bonus scenes or free stories on her website, [...] and [...]
Looking forward to enjoying her future releases.
