First Blade (#1) - Well-written, interesting characters, story draws you in, the fight scenes believable and exciting. Only complaint - sometimes the vulgar language wasn't necessary; yes, the main character has a few issues, but you're in her corner. I read this book, and First Witch, in one sitting. Get First Witch, it surpasses First Blade.
First Witch (#2) is better than First Blade, which is a good, standalone book, too. A standalone continuation from FB, just as well-written, full of interesting, believable characters - even the known and unknown enemies. Packed with fast-paced excitement and a couple of twists. I couldn't put the book down. Again, only complaint, sometimes the vulgar language wasn't necessary. It has a lot more sex than FB did.
First Blood (#3) - A fabulous ending to a fabulous series! Another well-written, intriguing novel with interesting, developed characters and a well thought out, fast paced plot with twists. Full of action and humor keeps the reader glued to the pages. Jelly Bean is a wonderful, complex character, and that was before JB was born. Compared to First Blade and First Witch, the sex and vulgar language was practically nonexistent.
Straight to Hell - A pretty good twist on Lucifer and Lucifer's story, I like it. Jane wrote another good, fast paced, action packed, intriguing story. Her characters are fun and believable regardless of where they originate. The twisting plot keeps the reader glued to the pages until the end . . . where we get perturbed to find a cliffhanger.
Yes, a miserable cliffhanger! The other thing that bothers me about this fab read is Lucy is easily distracted at the wrong times. I find this out of character for Lucy, with all she's accomplished, and rather unbelievable; like she's a ditz. No, she's not human, so she doesn't have that excuse. I understand the power of sexually attraction, but can't believe her knickers would be choking her brain. It's still a fun and entertaining story. Worth reading, just wish the rest of the story was there.
Immortal Ties - What a story, with lots of humor and sass, too! A well written romance and police story set with humans and paranormals. Interesting characters, believable dialog and a plot that mesmerizes the reader until the last page. The suspense is thick with both the possible romance and the crimes. Another fabulous book from a pretty good author; seldom does one of her books disappoint the reader. Has an overview of the story, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before I read it. I volunteered to read this author's work.
I contacted the author to review her books, after my 5-year-old Kindle died, with the only copies of many of my ARCs, Ms. Hinchey graciously gave me another copy of FW.
Adaline Raine is a new author for me, and this story totally blew me away. Ms. Raine's imagination and creativity are obvious from the first word of the first page. I love the story's creativity, it's inventiveness, and that it's incredibly HOT! But beyond that, Ms. Raine's writing ability is outstanding. Her characters are incredibly charismatic and true-to-life. The plot is totally engaging, full of twists and turns, ups and downs, never predictable in any way. I was so totally enthralled by this story that it took nothing at all for me to believe that vampires, fated matches, and otherworldly beings exist. I fell in love with Abby, her feistiness, her struggles to take in everything, including all things supernatural, and the fact that she's certainly no damsel in distress. And Chase? He's absolutely not your stereotypical billionaire hero! Their relationship is the very heart of this story, but there's so much more to pull you in and hook you from the moment you start reading. And, as strange as it might sound, the story also demonstrates an innate understanding of human nature, that people often don't know themselves quite as well as they think they do. Adaline Raine has created a very rare and exceptional treat that shows her unique ability as an author, and I'm very happy to have discovered her! I was captivated from beginning to end. This story is enchanting, and I've found another favorite! I give Saving Abby and Moonlight Magic five stars and my highest recommendation.
As I previously stated, this is just one of the 24 stories contained in Moonlight Magic. I've not yet had a chance to read all the the stories, but I can assure you the ones I have read are just as wonderful as Saving Abby. I urge you to grab this collection while you can. You won't be sorry!
One final note. Please be an informed reader and consumer! This is an ADULT anthology. The books contain explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won't enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the authors! They work extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
Abby is curious about who she really is and all the things that seem so off about her. When she starts to research herself and her oddities, she ends up putting herself in danger.
Chase is her boss, and also the man who saved her from danger. He tells her some things that seem too odd to be true, including the fact that there are vampires and she is marked by fate, and now that the vampires know that she is there, she is going to be in a lot of danger. Abby's mark makes her highly desirable. She can give the vampires more power and help them heal faster. The only way to save her is if another vampire marks her and covers her mark.
I really enjoyed this story and found it an interesting view of vampires, something that can be hard to do. Adaline wrote an interesting story with good characters and good writing. All in all, I really enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series as it comes out. I hope that I don't have to wait for too long.
I received and ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
