Adventure combine with romance gives this story an edge that you will love. The characters are very well developed. I found myself thoroughly enjoying not only Declan and Althea, but the secondary characters as well. I love the interactions between Declan and his best friend, Jack. These two literally had me laughing out loud. I also love Declan's father. He is meant to be a controlling uncaring Duke. I found him to be lovable under his hard exterior!
Well done, Charlotte Boyette-Comp. A historical romance that everyone should read. I can't wait to read more from you.
I received an ARC for an honest review.
When I read the synopsis for this book I got a Robin Hood vibe. After reading the book, there is a bit of that element but there is so much more.
Declan is just plain delectable and while he is a rogue you can't help but fall in love with him, along with all the female characters in the book. He has a good heart and determined to make a difference for the underprivileged but sometimes his methods aren't the best and lands him in a bit of trouble.
Althea and Bess are both strong women and determined to get what they want, which unfortunately for the two of them is Declan. I love strong female characters and definitely get that with Althea and Bess.
Charlotte Boyette-Compo takes us on an adventure with so many twist you don't know what is going to happen until you turn the last page. I was on pins and needles waiting to see what happened. Who lived, who died and who loved.
Her imagery of the historic times, scenery, dress and attitudes was perfectly done and a joy to read.
I look forward to the next book hinted at in the Epilogue of Moonlight Rider. Thank you for a great adventure Charlotte!

Moonlight Rider by Charlotte Boyett-Compo Review
I liked this book from beginning to end! It has a spin of Robin Hood and I love it! We get to meet Declan aka “Gypsy” who robs the rich and gives to the poor in historical times. I think we all need a man like Declan who is willing to give up his life and give back to the poor. I like that in a guy.
I did fall in love with Declan and Alethea in this book and fell in love with secondary characters as well. This book is well written for a historical time piece and I loved it. I like historical time pieces and being able to transport back to those times and live through the characters.
You will enjoy this book and go on an emotional ride with laughing, crying, and just feeling what the characters are feeling. I don’t see this in many books these days or don’t feel it but this book really brought out emotions in me.
You will also love Jack and Declan, they are laugh out loud funny and it’s great when you can laugh out loud with a book when you are reading. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for fun in historical times.
Two upper class aristocrats in a twisted love affair, complicated by a lover, a jealous suitor, two fathers that want the best for their children, grief, fantasy and intrigue. Add to that Declan's midnight activities and you have one hell of a story.
Full of action and arguements. You will cry, take sides and in my opinion either love or sympathise with some of the characters. You will hate with a vengeance, the villain in this book. And you will laugh at what some of them get up to in their adventures.
The book will all make sense in the end. Coming together in a fantastic conclusion I would not have imagined. I'm hoping for a sequel in the future. You never know.
Now if that's not enough to get you interested this book is not for you. Worth the read.
This story was an interesting ride. Charlotte Boyette-Compo provided romance, humor, entertainment, and a wanting to know what's going to happen next. She threw in a number of twists and turns that made it impossible to guess how it would end.
The characters were great. They all provided an important role to the story and it wouldn't have been the same without each of them. Declan is far from perfect, but he's rugged and lovable and a bit of a trouble maker. He has a great best friend and their relationship is entertaining. The women are sweet and stubborn.
The book was a very fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed the uniqueness of the story and the endearing characters.
