"Something dangerous was loose in the forest of Wolfe Creek."
Kaylie Newell has recreated the eerie darker atmosphere that held me captive throughout the first book, Lone Wolfe Protector, and combined with warmth, intimacy and couple who endear themselves, it quickly grabbed hold. As far as the world is concerned Aimee Styles is dead, her disappearance a mystery to all but a close few, but when the towns doctor/grieving widower/single dad/hottie Jake Blackstock is called to treat her, he instantly recognises who she is and is mesmerised and intrigued.
"...all he could think about was the beautiful young woman who'd vanished into elements.”
This was the book I had hoped for; our couple have a natural chemistry, are passionate together, likeable, a serious dose of cute comes courtesy of Jake's son and the romance was balanced with the more mysterious edge of something lurking in the shadows. It didn't hold the same level of mystery as LWP, but with an engaging writing style, Kaylie Newell has ended this series on a high.

I did love this story it was really good. It was: fast paced, good plot, good writing, suspense, werewolves, secrets, something lurking, indecision and so much more. The one thing I didn’t really care for was when Jake compared Aimee to his dead wife. But got past that to enjoy the rest of the story. I love the twists and turns of this story as well as the twists and turns Aimee and Jake go through. I recommend.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
