Tyler "Ty" Rollins grew up in a world of baseball. Her father, Frank Rollins, is a Hall-of-Fame bound closing pitcher for the prestigious New York Yankees. Baseball was in her blood. Since her mother's death when she was seven years old, Ty has accompanied the team every year, earning her spot as a batgirl. A role she took very seriously.
Enter Chase Stern, a bad boy ball player based in Los Angeles. He makes a mistake with one of his teammate's wives and he is shipped off to New York immediately. One thing that struck me as odd with this development was the Yankees pedigree for no drama and high expectations taking on this player who clearly has drama in spades. It was addressed in the book, but it made me scratch my head. Just a little blip, didn't stop me from turning pages as fast as I could.
One of my favorite parts about the book was the relationship Ty has with her father. You could feel the close knit bond between the two of them. Frank was fighting the battle of raising an independent 17-year-old girl in a male dominated world while protecting her from what he knew could come from her presence there.
Enter Chase Stern. The moment these two meet on the page, the chemistry crackles instantly. I felt it leap right off my Kindle. I loved every moment. Every glance, Every interaction. All of it. The forbidden aspect of their growing relationship made it spicy and even more captivating. The thrill for the characters was just as exciting for the readers. With every secret rendezvous, stolen moment, heart-melting kiss I fell as deeply in love with these characters as they did with one another.
As is with most "bad boys" in books, there is usually something in their past that triggers the behavior. As is the case with our hero, Chase. Memories of this moment from the past causes a lapse in judgment, which sets of the rest of the book like a domino effect. No spoilers here.
This sets up the second half of the book.
Honestly, I don't want to give away too much in my review because it's important for you to go as blind as possible. I am notorious for peeking at future chapters or sneaking the last few pages at the end of the book, but this time, I NEEDED to be surprised.
There is definitely a knock-your-socks off romance throughout the entire novel. It's a heart-pounding, swoonworthy, catch-your-breath kind of romance swirled around a mystery that will keep the pace of the second half going along at a brisk pace. You won't want to put down the book. You have to reach the pinnacle to find out just how this story will unfold. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. I promise.
Ty is the daughter of a legendary closer for the Yankees and the only girl to be able to travel with the team. She knows how these baseball players are and she’s not about to date one…until now.
''Chase Stern is the star player with quite a reputation which gets him traded to the Yankees team. All he has to do is stay away from the coach’s daughter, but that proves to be hard when he meets Ty.
They weaved in an out of a forbidden romance, but ends because of a mystery towards unsolved murders that connects with the Yankees. However as years pass these two once again cross paths.
Will they be able to take their relationship to the next stage even if there's a killer on the loose?
I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant with Moonshot because I couldn’t get anything out of the vague blurb, but when friend after friend kept recommending it, I decided to just one-click and hope for the best. Since I was going in completely blind I have to say that I absolutely loved the story Ms. Torre has created. The growth of romance between Ty and Chase enticed my curiosity of where they were heading and the suspense of the unsolved murders certainly caught my attention. Heck, it brought out my Nancy Drew. I didn’t see any of it coming and I think that’s what satisfied me to the fullest. Nothing was predictable and the story really does grab your attention from start to finish.
''I highly recommend, but only to those who don’t mind cheating scenarios. ''
Tempting Sexy Thoughts
The story of Chase Stern the bad boy in the MLB and Ty Rollins (the closer's daughter) you see a girl grow up losing her mother and having to go on the road with her father. A father who loved her so dearly. The bat girl who loved the game growing up, idolizing Chase Stern. She knows her stuff. When Chase does bad and sleeps with his teammate's wife he has to find an out. That out was only the one place he has ever wanted. The Yankee's.
Chase's dreams was to go to the Yankee's and he wouldn't have any other way. Ty wanted nothing more for her team to do well and she knew he would be it. No one seen what would happen after that.
The story goes on. Girl meets boy standing in the nude. Guy ask if she likes when he sees. Guy finds out girl is teammates daughter.
So beautiful and forbidden.
Follow their love. See them say I love you. See them crash and burn.
Only thing I hated with the whole Tobey situation. I mean it irritated me. I got where the author was going he was annoying and just a detour on where Ty should have been from the beginning. It was good though. Dave was a bit weird though...
I related to this book a lot. I grew up with a love of sports as my dad and I bonded over football and Mark McGwire (I grew up in St. Louis and is forever a Cardinals fan). I interned for the Cardinals the summer after college so I understood Th's love of the field and the game. The way that Ty and Chase's love story came together is one that isn't ordinary. Falling in love with a player while you're the under aged bat-girl is taboo. But, once her 18th birthday came and went, you knew they were cemented from that point on. Their story is one that I could read over and over for the simple fact they risked a lot, from the beginning to the end, just to be together. I'm so glad I finally worked up the courage to read this book. And I'm glad I did. This is one of my favorite Torre books yet.
