The one very minor issue with this knife, and this is definitely more my fault than the knife is that if it gets wet and you don't dry it off the finish will delaminate. Oh, one more thing, in regards to the sheath, yes it is lame, but the curious thing is that the Scandinavian knife makers have realized that there is an optimal size for a mass produced knife handle and as such any of my Scandinavian knives fits perfectly into the opening of any of my other Scandinavian sheath. Damn those Nordic folk are clever, must be that socialist thing :) Anyway, buy the knife, you won't regret it
The next pleasant surprise using this knife was the width of the spine or back of the blade. I like to press my thumb against the spine of the knife when carving and the width made it much more comfortable.
Overall, I bought this for the availability and low cost, and I was surprised by the sharpness and sturdy construction.
I'll recommend this to anyone I know looking to get into carving.
I actually like the sheath, mine had a cute little design on it, not girly cute, but well, the additional pattern made it look nice and gave it a cultured look. Might not be a bad idea to get the leather thumb guards Amazon keeps pushing(good idea, keep it up), in case you are a noob like me at woodcarving. All the same my hand hasn't slipped down the handle onto the blade, I think its the the full belly of the handle that helps.
The handle seems unfinished but thats fine by me, I could always slap some varnish on it, but that might make it too slick for woodcarving,= without a hilt.
The blade which is the point of this review, is GrrrrrrEAT! Though I've only put it through like 100 strokes, so I may have to update in the future. Time will tell. Peace!
P.S. Enjoy, buy one!
i wish it had come with sharpening instructions
im not sure if it is a 10 degree or 15 degree
sharpening angle it would have been
even better if a blade angle guide was provided for sharpening,
but it is a great knife to work with ... keeping it sharp after about a half hour
work is a challenge..
Next project, carve a new handle.

But the tip broke, 30 min into carving, the first day of use, don't know if it's something I did, or something wrong with the knife.Read more
