Extreme care must be used when using this blade. I accidentally dropped it and it is so sharp that it cut a hole in space and time and now there's a black hole under my desk.

I own a couple of Mora knives, this is another welcome addition.

Whether cutting rope, doing chores around the homestead or skinning an animal this is the best all around knife for such chores. Carbon blades are by far my favorite, easy to sharpen and keep an edge very well.

You know what else is excellent about Mora? It is a company with a great reputation who DOES NOT make their knives in China.

I will go even a step further and say this knife or the Morakniv Companion MG Carbon Steel would make good survival knives for those on a budget.

Click buy, you'll save money and get a great knife.

Can always use Mora knives!

I had heard about Mora knives for some time and decided to try them out. For the price, you can't go wrong with this. Of the three models I have purchased, this one is my favorite.
First thing, the belt loop on the sheath is useless for anything but a thin dress belt. I am wondering if these were made for Scout uniforms or something. I cut the tab with the useless belt part off and drilled another hole next to the bottom one and made a lanyard so it can be worn like a neck knife (around the house, not out in the woods.) I am sure other various modifications can be made to the sheath to make it more usable also.
Besides that, the knife is one of the sharpest I have bought out of the box. Remember this is carbon steel not stainless! Yes it will stain and/or rust if not taken care of. I like the finger guard, although the overall grip might be a bit small for larger hands. Needless to say the price on this is amazing also...cheap enough to have in every car, bag, etc!
The only thing I am trying to get used to with the Mora knives is the steak knife/paring knife proportions of them. Mentally I feel like I am misusing a kitchen knife but they of course have proven their durability in use.

Incredibly Sharp

After reading about Mora knives several years ago, I finally obtained three this month. Two utility knives, and a workshop knife. These knives are small and unimpressive at first sight. They look like the "cash register" knives put in a bucket at the sporting goods store that you buy when you forgot your good knife at home. Plastic sheaths, thermoplastic handles, but good heavens, be careful with the edge. Right out of the package they shaved a patch of hair like no knife I have ever bought. (OK, that may sound weird to some, but is the traditional test for sharpness.)
Aside from the very good steel used, it seems there are are two other secrets to make this kind of sharp edge. The first is the shape of the edge, which is the very broad bevel called a "scandia blade". This long, shallow, bevel on both sides of the blade is easy to sharpen and keep sharp. (At about the same time, I obtained a vintage Mora knive from eBay which had obviously been used, was dull, and couldn't shave arm hair. After a few minutes of hand sharpening, it was as sharp as the factory new knives.)
The second factor to the knife edge is the laminated steel blade. Two layers of (relatively) soft carbon steel laminated on a central core of harder carbon steel. This means the edges sharpen easily while the cutting edge remains sharper longer, and when touch up is needed, the knives sharpen up quickly.
These knives are exactly what you need in the kitchen or the field. Don't let the price fool you. In fact, buy more of them with the money you save. There is nothing like cutting with a truly fine, sharp blade, so you'll want one ready where ever and whenever you need a knife.

An incredibly low price on such an incredibly high quality item. I've worked with Mora's for years now and none of the three I've owned have failed me and all are usable and will be used for years to come. Blade comes scary sharp from Sweden. Sharper than some Spyderco's or SOG's I've owned out of the box, and with most companies, sharpness of factory knives will very. Not Mora. They've all come shaving sharp from the box. And for $8 and up, I add a Mora to my shopping cart every time I need to in order to qualify for Amazon's free super saving shipping. Two of my Mora's now, I've drilled a second hole next to the drainage hole and, feeding a chain through, used them as neck knives in the bush. Holds the edge for a long time too. I suggest always going with carbon steel from Mora, as it's much stronger. My most recently acquired Mora was oiled and put into a drawer until its time comes for future childeren or just a plain old good beating. GREAT for bushcraft and even just utility work like cutting up boxes or plastic.

CONS:

Best Utility Knife I've Had

It's a fixed blade knife so there is not much to talk about. If you are looking for a good, light-weight knife to take camping / hiking / fishing, forget all the crazy survival knife stuff. Get this product. I have two, one is in my kitchen and we use it for everything. The other is in my pack.

Basically:

** It comes very sharp and is easy to re-sharpen.
** The grip is plastic, but it isn't flimsy.
** The sheath is also hard plastic, but works very well.
** For what you get, this is a bargain really.

Highly recommended.
