Sandvik Steel Blade
High-quality Swedish Sandvik 14C28N steel provides razor sharpness, high hardness, exceptional toughness, superior corrosion resistance, and excellent edge performance.
The spine of the Garberg blade has been ground especially for use with a fire starter (sold separately) to create sparks that will ignite dry grass, tinder, or even a gas grill.
The Garberg blade features a Scandi grind that provides a durable yet razor sharp edge to bite into the surface of materials and keep the knife from slipping. The blade is thin enough to use for carving yet robust enough for batoning and other demanding outdoor activities.
The Morakniv Garberg handle offers great anti-slip performance and works extremely well in wet and cold conditions. It sits comfortably in the hand, allowing for great control, safety, and performance.
Batoning is the practice of splitting logs into small pieces for kindling. With its robust .09-inch (2.5 mm) thick blade and solid strength, the Garberg is tough enough to tackle the toughest batoning chores.
A razor sharp edge and exceptional balance make the Garberg an ideal carving tool, allowing users to precisely prep tinder, create feather sticks, carve shelter stakes, or process wood for various uses like collecting water or creating camp tools.
Feather sticks are important for helping to start a fire with damp wood or without tinder. Garberg's sharp edge, light weight, balance and ease of use make it ideal for this essential camp task.
The spine of the Garberg is specially ground to be used with a fire starter (not included) to easily light dry grass, leaves, paper, bark and even a gas grill or stove.
The Morakniv Garberg is a powerful, full tang, stainless steel knife that is the toughest Morakniv the company has ever made. It is available in two versions (sold separately), either with a tough and handsome leather sheath, or with a MOLLE multi-mount system that includes a Polymide sheath and accessories for fastening the Garberg to packs, clothes, walls, or vehicles. The Garberg’s full tang blade extends the entire length of the knife, making it the best type of fixed blade knife for handling harsh tasks without risk of breaking. The blade of the Morakniv Garberg is top grade Swedish Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel that features excellent edge performance, razor sharpness, high hardness, and exceptional corrosion resistance. It features a square-ground spine that can be used as a striker with a firesteel (sold separately). The Garberg version with MOLLE Compatible Mounts includes the Garberg knife, a Polyamide sheath, secondary lock for carrying multiple Morakniv knives, belt loop, multi mount base, narrow velcro strap, and two wide velcro straps. The Garberg version with Leather Sheath includes the Garberg knife and a fine, leather sheath. MAN am I glad I did... I love the no-fuss-no-muss handle material that isn't going to lose a pin and fall off or get scratched up. I love the very aggressive 90-degree spine for both scraping fat-wood shavings for fire-starter AND for how well it strikes a spark off of a ferro rod.
I also just like the size... It's big enough to handle most tasks and if you are foolish enough to want to split wood with your knife it can handle up to a 3" diameter piece pretty handily and then wow you with how well it feathers. But after your fire is going and you want to do some "detail" work (carving trap components, making a pot-hanger, etc...) or even just some whittlin' I think you are going to be very happy with it. True to the Mora tradition, if you take the time to do it, you can put a DOOZY of an edge on this pup and it will be a dream to use.
