Jessica and Lucas are thrown together by Mr. Roxbury to make sure the Mr. Nice Guy program take place. This is a program for children from foster care or are orphaned and are struggling in school and feel they don't have a real chance for a career or college.
Lucas absolutely doesn't want to help out, but he owes Mr. Roxbury debt. Jessica is Mr. Roxbury's assistant and would do anything necessary to make sure this event is successful. Jessica is shy, but she will only be pushed so far before she pushes back and gets in Lucas's face.
You will have to read how Jessica and Lucas battle through this intense story. I assure you there are times you would like to strangle Lucas. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.
It was nice to see that Jess and the kids could get to him.
There is romance and some sex scenes (hot!).
Would definitely recommend for a nice afternoon read.
Lucas Brand's life didn't start out so well, but now he was a self-made multimillionaire. Business was his mistress. Working on a huge project worth millions, he received the letter calling in a favor from years ago. He could ignore anyone in the world but not Norman Victor Roxbury.
Jessica Glen worked as Mr. Roxbury's assistant, helping with the less fortunate kids in the Mr. Niceguy program. Her boss was in the hospital and needed a replacement Mr. Niceguy for this years Thanksgiving Dinner and week long retreat. Jess disagreed that a man Like Lucas would be the best replacement. But it wasn't up to her.
This was a really good story. Watching the ten kids who were chosen for the retreat as they had fun and enjoyed life for a week without the problems most fourteen year olds should never have to start with. There were also so interesting critters and characters to help make the story complete.
Lucas has a lot to learn about letting other people get close to him and Jessica needs to just allow things to happen. Jessica and Lucas have a lot to learn, hopefully from one another.
When the two of them get thrown into a project, who knows what will happen?
You need to read this story to see what happens for yourself, you will not be sorry. So, take the time to get to know Jessica and Lucas. I highly recommend allowing these characters into your life.
Now she is supposedly old enough to be college educated, supporting herself, divorced, etc. so you would think her thinking would be a little bit more mature. She cannot understand why the hero doesn't want to spend a week with a bunch of neglected, sad teens than solve a multi-million dollar problem his company is experiencing. Really?
Any number of times you get the message, time is short and he has a lot on his mind and weighing on his shoulders. So, instead of bottom lining her requests, she asks him how he is doing and starts off with small talk. STUPID It seems anyone that doesn't think like she does is in the wrong. It always amazes me that the women that are so pissed with the guy for making big bucks resenting every minute he spends making them, but has no problems enjoying his big beautiful home, grounds with horses available, servants to grant her every wish, etc. But what a pig for spending time away from holding her hand to pay for all this.
Live in poverty with the guy holding your hand 24/7 and then let's hear what you have to say! So, NO, I did not like her at all. He on the other hand, was a hunk, some issues from his childhood but certainly earning his way and the living for quite a few employees. So, who would I side with? HIM.
She throws an old "date" in his face because he didn't want to marry her and spend the rest of his life buying her everything she wanted. REALLY? One doesn't owe a date anything. That is why people date. To see if they want to be with them again. If they don't, they don't call. That is called dating.
Now, she divorces her Type A personality husband! He wasn't what she wanted. That is ok. But to not call a date and continue with her is a bad thing? Don't get that double standard.
It just seemed to me that through the whole story she was continually putting herself above him because she was who she was and he was the bad guy because he was not like her. I really don't see why he was even the tiniest bit attracted to her.
It was a good enough story and probably most people would enjoy it and not get so involved with not liking her. So, I would suggest you read it and decide for yourself. I liked him, didn't like her. Wish he had told her to take a flying leap! This is one story where I really didn't want them to get together. He deserved better.
