In this book entitled, "A More Perfect Union" The Republican Presidential Candidate Ben Carson expounds on the US Constitution. This is an inspiring book to understand and defend our Constitution. Written in plain and easy to understand English, the presidential candidate explains the basic teachings of the American Constitution and what it stands for, and how they inspired the founding fathers. He elaborates on the freedom guaranteed to us, and how we can protect and defend our rights, and the American way of living. He explains the current events and controversial issues facing the nation. He stresses that it is important for Americans to defend the Bill of Rights, which guarantees our freedom to speech, right to bear arms, practice our religion, and much more.

Carson is one of the few candidates who understands the dangers of Islam and explains how it is incompatible with the Constitution that upholds a democratic society. The teachings of Islam contrasts the very principles that upholds the Western civilization.

Ben Carson is a 2016 Republican Party candidate for President of the United States and a retired Johns Hopkins Medical School Neurosurgeon. After delivering a widely publicized speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast meeting, he became a popular conservative figure in political media for his views on social and political issues. A More Perfect Union" is one of at least seven books from Ben Carson that have become bestsellers. Strongly recommended to all conservative readers who like to uphold the constitution, and the supporters of Ben Carson.

I have been reading my way through Ben Carson's books. What a thoughtful and insightful man. I don't agree with everything he says, but I believe his books show how he can be a healing factor for this country.

Great insight from a "Washington Outsider" who is concerned about doing what is right for the people, based on information from the people, not about doing what is politically correct or what is best for Washington politicians or lobbyists. Dr. Carson is not a blowhard, but a quiet, thoughtful man, who isn't concerned with gaining power; his love for his country comes through as he discusses what "We, the People" can do together; rather than what Washington can do to make the people more dependent on the government. He is not afraid to speak the truth and isn't afraid to use his life an as example of how people can succeed...with hard work and determination! Compelling book!

A More Perfect Union is an analysis and explanation of the both the Constitution and the Bill of Rights of the United States. Doctor Carson provides information and background on the writing of the Constitution, the legislative branch, the executive branch, the judicial branch, each article of the Constitution, each amendment of the Bill of Rights, and additional amendments to the Constitution. The purpose of the author is to inform Americans about these significant foundational documents. The dangers of political correctness (a threat to freedom of speech) and being an informed American are the major themes of the book. Doctor Carson also emphasizes that the biggest threat to freedom in America is a lack of knowledge about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As an American history and government teacher I found this book to be both informative and highly readable. I plan on keeping it as a reference tool on my book shelf in my classroom.

In this new book, Dr. Ben Carson provides a layman’s introduction to the Constitution. As I had not studied the Constitution for many years, I found it to be very helpful. Throughout the book Carson weaves in stories from his own experiences and also uses it as an opportunity to share his opinions about how to improve the future of the United States.

Carson writes that unlike many of the lengthy and complex bills that are passed by Congress today, the Constitution, not counting the twenty-seven amendments, is less than seventeen pages long. He states that one of the outstanding features of the Constitution is its lack of details. He states that it is also relatively simple and easy to understand, simple enough to be understood by anyone with a basic education.

Dr. Carson states that many Americans have never read the Constitution and are unaware of the liberties it guarantees and the procedures it has set up. He shares about the history of the Constitution and about its framers. He tells the reader about the Constitution’s governing principles as they are laid out in its preamble and the structure of the Constitution. Most importantly, he states, the reader will learn what they can do to defend it.

He suggests that every American memorize the preamble and keep its principles in mind while voting, thinking that if we elect only officials who understand the Constitution and its goals, America’s future will be safe. He writes that once we understand the Constitution and our rights, we must be vigilant to make sure our leaders uphold those rights.
