Still, Pink Floyd are growing their roots with this record and their experimentation with ambiance, mood and tone produce interesting results. The album clearly influences their later work and allowed Pink Floyd to broaden their scope and move forward to produce their masterpieces later.
This is Pink Floyd growing their roots. Not every direction they indulge in with this record works, but it is, in my opinion, a vital component to the collection of anyone who enjoys Pink Floyd. It's a glimpse of the band, when they were still a little incomplete.
This album is a bold experiment that pays off later in their career. If you want to hear Pink Floyd "in the laboratory", this is the album for you.
