Dale caught my attention when she used the phrase "survive caregiving." It was shocking to learn that caregiving can kill, or lead to severe depression, or damage the caregiver's physical and mental health. Dale includes lots of practical advice, from putting yourself on the calendar, to dealing with a spouse so disruptive at night, that she had to sleep in a different bed.
Her emotional honesty and stark practicality moved me to tears, but at the same time gave me hope that I, too, can survive caregiving.
Any agency supporting caregivers, and every caregiver, should have a copy of this powerful little book.
I just finished Dale Baker's book today and was touched by her personal journey through murky waters and how she managed the many challenges ...Readers are given valuable advise and insights from her first hand experience...
Ms. Baker's writing style is unique, to the point and beautifully written...it is definately the best book I have read on the subject of caregiving...I would recommend it highly...
