Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Some have wondered why I wrote a book about Catholic art, or painters like Michelangelo. This book is about neither of these subjects, while I love what many would consider Catholic art, and artists like Michelangelo and Da Vinci, this book is about Early Christian art. This means art from the 1st Century to around the 4th Century. This is art and symbols produced by the early church (our brothers and sisters in Christ), which truly fascinates me. There are so many reasons Christians should read about early Christian art, but the foremost is that the art of the catacombs had a purpose. Early Christian art was a way to communicate with other members of the Lord's body. The art of the catacombs was a message to the deceased's contemporaries and is a message for us that has stood nearly 2,000 years. Believe it or not these images teach us about baptism, the providence of God, the very fact that Christ is God's son. These images, while not nearly as important as the Bible, are important to understand. This was the catalyst for this book. This has been my favorite written work by far, and I am so happy that I've been able to share these things with you. Like all Indie Authors, it's your support that makes my books a success. Thank you for sharing! --Susan Elliott
