Once the story got going it was really well written and I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. The points of view do flip occasionally between the two main characters, but not in an annoying fashion.
The story does have a little twist at the end, which I thought it would have done without, but hell, who am I to criticize how someone wants to end their story. I would say that that was my only criticism... well, that, and the lack of intimate scenes. I had hoped for more intimacy between the characters, but don't be turned away because of that. It was still a very cute story.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Carole McKee, Author
woman whose childhood was destroyed by a playboy can't possibly be attracted to one... can she?
Sandy is a focused career woman who brushes off the constant flirtations by wealthy playboy Cameron. After all, his reputation has preceded him - she's heard women talk about the "extra services" he provides them as one of the "fathers" for hire at the firm she works for.
Cameron, though, won't give up. It's been three years, and he's determined to win Sandy's heart no matter what it takes. So what if he's hiding something about himself ... he wants her to love him as a man first and foremost.
I have to admit to falling a little in love with Cameron the moment I met him. He's sweet, funny, caring and so earnest. Throw sexy into the mix and you have the perfect man. Sandy was certainly stronger than I would have been, resisting his advances for three solid years. Truly, Cameron was almost too good to be true.
Sandy carried a huge amount of baggage, however. She had a built-in distrust of any man who was wealthy and handsome, so it was no wonder she wouldn't give Cameron the time of day. Still, I struggled to believe that, after three years she wouldn't have gotten to know him at least a little better - enough to recognize his sincerity. I also had a hard time believing that his big secret hadn't been revealed a lot sooner - surely the paparazzi over the pond is as rabid as it is here? Someone would have given Cameron's secret away.
Still, I was able to suspend my belief and simply enjoy this simple, sweet and very touching story. Once Cameron started to make inroads on his quest to win Sandy's heart I just smiled as I turned the pages. The conflict was mostly in the backstory, wasn't truly significant by the time we join the story, and it was fairly easy to overcome, but it didn't make this romance any less pleasurable.
If you enjoy a sweet romance that tugs at the heart strings and has a real Disney-esque happy ever after, then I know you'll like More Than A Playboy.
Ms. Monique DeVere certainly knows her way around a computer keyboard. I don't believe I've ever read anything by her previously. I do, however, recommend it as a good read. You will definitely not be disappointed. - Brenda Talley
