Editorial Reviews

Unknown

“Not only provides a kaleidoscope of insight into the daily structure of Amish parenting, but… compares and contrasts it with ‘Englisch’ parenting and offers ways to incorporate Amish methods into one's own life. A rich, entertaining compendium.” (Kirkus)

"Miller gleans helpful clues about parenting that can be used in non-Amish homes... A useful offering." (Booklist)

"With charming examples and interesting first-hand observations, Miller shows us how Amish parents instill the values, virtues, and habits that mark their children with exceptional personal character and abiding faith." (Marybeth Hicks, author of Teachable Moments )

“How I long to hear a parent say, ‘I just want my child to be humble’ rather than ‘I just want my child to be happy.’ In the closing chapter of
More Than Happy, Serena and Paul drive the message home that who we are and what we stand for determines who our children become.” (Jill Rigby Garner, Founder, Manners of the Heart® and author of Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World )

USA Today Best-Selling Author Serena B. Miller has won numerous awards, including the RITA, the CAROL, and was a finalist for the CHRISTY Award. A movie, Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, was based on the first of her Love's Journey in Sugarcreek series, The Sugar Haus Inn, and won the coveted Templeton Epiphany Award. Her novel, An Uncommon Grace, was adapted into a movie of the same name which airs on The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel regularly. Her latest contribution to The Hallmark Channel is her novel, Moriah’s Lighthouse, premiering summer 2022 by the same name. She resides in the beautiful southern Ohio countryside surrounded by three hardworking sons, three talented daughters-in-law, six utterly brilliant grandchildren, and four lazy porch dogs. When she isn't writing, researching, or traveling, she spends her time playing with grandchildren, failing at yet another decluttering mission, or sitting on the front porch counting her blessings.
