The topic of this trilogy is Bullying, and in Book 2, Dark Horizons, the struggles of the 3 teenage characters continue. A 2nd book usually falls short of the first one, but DARK HORIZONS delivers and completes. It is a necessary sequel to Morium. It takes us deeper into the dilemma raised by the author -
But as with all good fantasy books, it is a fight between the good in all of us.. friendship, love... and our deepest and darkest urges.. the need for control and power, getting revenge. It's all here.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read novels that have the power to affect your point of view while offering an unforgettable reading experience. This book stays with you. The characters are not that easy to forget.
It's a powerful, relevant and thrilling read. The Finale is much anticipated.

It was not written as a superhero book. I intended for the story to focus on how events in their lives can shape the morality of our younger generation, emotionally damaged and traumatized by bullying. It is a dark tale... and that's the reality of this seemingly childish prank. The feeling of being powerless to change their situation is one of the worst emotions bullied teens have to deal with. MORIUM puts this question on the table..... What if they had the means to change their situation? What if they were not so powerless?
While MORIUM introduced you into Lexi and Nathan's tormented world, DARK HORIZONS will dive deeper into their lives and psyche. How they are dealing with the aftermath of the confrontation at the freight yards, and how they attempt to repair their once strong friendship.
I wanted to grow them more as characters, to show how they're living with the abilities they have inherited. While the bullying continues, more so with Lexi, she learns that she doesn't need supernatural powers to be the person she wants to be. She fights the temptation to use The Gift even when lives are at risk. Nathan's anger still brews inside him, but his desire to remain close friends with Lexi causes him suffering. It was a challenge to define the vast contrast between the two of them, and how this power was shaping their lives. It was also a chance for me to write more of my favorite character, Stacy. She finds herself stuck in between Lexi and Nathan, and being forced to choose between them.
DARK HORIZONS is a character study that dives into the emotions, either hidden or open, of the three main characters. The love, the friendship, the devotion takes center stage until a last humiliating event changes everything. There are many twists and developments that readers of MORIUM might not have expected.
I invite you to read DARK HORIZONS, BOOK 2 of the MORIUM TRILOGY, and know more about the dark world of the bullied. I am hoping that with the increased awareness of its effects on the young, we might be able to help avert the irreparable consequences.
