The story is amazing and like a previous reviewer, it felt like I knew the characters from the beginning. Probably my shared coffee addiction with Josh the main character went a long way towards grokking with him.
The first 5 star reviewer did a great job of summarizing the story, I'll just add that to me it read like I was watching a movie. Vivid scenes, action and the dialogue. Damn, the dialogue flowed so pitch perfect. I think this is really what rang my bell to extend the auditory metaphor.
Another in a long line of successful works by this author.
(and I'm off to get another coffee...I'm looking at you Ms. Brown.)
Josh Cooper is an absolute dream! I love his attitude, his snarky quips, his job devotion, his relationships and when you put it all together you have a warm heart that won't take any punches. Callum Ross is a wish come true! I adore his attitude, his snarky quips, his job devotion, his relationships and when you put them all together you have a warm heart that won't take any punhces. Did I just repeat myself when describing the two main characters? Yes I did. That's because they are so alike, in some stories that doesn't work but in Morning My Angel, it makes them perfect for each other. Because at the end of the day, neither Josh nor Cal will take crap from anyone or let them get away with anything, especially each other.
This is my first Sue Brown read but it will definitely not be last. Lovely addition to my mystery series library.
Loved the Charlie's Angels reference. It's the sweetest thing ^^
This was a long, convoluted story. Too much so at times.
On a more personal note, Charlie (I didn't quite like him) and his Angel (he's fun, sweet and fun) have, even by the end, a weird, kinda sharp, almost business-like relationship. And yea, they love each other by the HFN ending cause I've read the words there but man was it hard for me to buy that...
Didn't feel like love.
I guess I need to keep reading cause book 1 just didn't work for me that way ^^
"Just barely?" Yes, because if it weren't for the fact that both Josh and Cal are such deliciously depraved characters this one might have been a toss for me. No matter that I easily figured out one of the mysteries that has plagues Josh's life very early on; and no matter that we really don't get a full blown description of Cal--he's just a maybe-pushing-40-bigger-that-Josh-hunk with a great butt--this one is exciting and mysterious in plot, and often funny in dialogue. And I read it in a few hours.
The way the main mystery is solved is a bit pushing it, but the perp is a huge surprise. The HFN ending indicates a potential sequel, and if so, I would hope it might be a bit more domesticated so we can really get to know, and love, not just like, Josh and Cal.
For the most part I was able to look past that and make my way through the book and I'm very interested to see how the rest of this series goes so I wasn't completely turned off by it. Like I adored the Charlie/My Angel thing. Even though "Charlie" was pretty easy to figure out I will say that the case they were all working on was not. That one actually had me stumped so I was very pleased with that.
I really don't have a lot more to say about it. It was good, worth a read for me at least and I'll definitely be carrying on with the series.
enough drama to make you want the characters to get together and enough action for the romance to be interesting and not annoying
I am a bit mad it took me a while to undestand the alusion to angel and charlie though :(
I will definitely finish the series
