Morse Metal Devil dry cut saw is all the tool you need to quickly and safely cut any machinable metal. It is a must for every contractor. The Metal Devil is perfect for doing framing projects or complex pipe fitting work. It cuts through steel and other tough metals as easily as a traditional circular saw blade cuts through soft pine. These devils cut faster, cut cooler, and cut longer than most things you are used to seeing in industrial plants or at construction sites.

Cuts cooler: People are amazed to find how cool freshly cut metal edges are after cutting. The unique metallurgy of the carbide tips means there is minimal heat transferred to the inner plate.

Cuts faster: M.K. Morse Metal Devil cutting system cuts much faster than traditional abrasive wheels. It can cut through 6 inches x ¼ inch thick steel in approximately 12 seconds.

Cuts Longer: M.K. Morse Metal Devil cutting system works together with blades that have a hardened steel inner plate that is a unique combination of tungsten carbide and titanium carbide tips brazed to the teeth. As a result, M.K. Morse Metal Devil cutting systems offer exceptional wear resistance and make more cuts than most other cutting systems.

MK Morse has a PO Box as their mailing address and is located states-side in Ohio. These types of things all worry me when it comes to buying tools, as I typically focus on buying products that have good support and are made in the US. Especially when it comes to my tools.

Anyway, I dont think I had too many options when it came to chop saws. I saw the offerings by Dewalt and Milwaukee but they seemed a bit too bland. A few things that pushed me to buy this product:

1) Build quality and construction. Base, clamp, and machine all appear to be heavy duty metal. The scissor-style blade guard doors are very nice.
2) Low RPM, high torque. Motor starts smoothly (not abruptly).
3) Vise adjustments are all hex bolt. I prefer this over the tool-less designs that other manufacturers offer.
4) D-style handle. I was worried that I purchased a side-handle model but rest assured, my machine came with the D-handle. Very comfortable and the safety switch is easy to operate.

I'll update this review if there are any downsides to this machine. Besides electronics, this is the first product from overseas that I am truly impressed with.

8/30/13 Update:
I have been using the machine a lot more lately, and this time with stainless. Do not attempt to cut stainless with the stock blade, it will dullen quickly. For stainless, you will need a 90 tooth blade and it usually has a smaller cutting area (kerf). These blades are NOT cheap. From what I've gathered, Dry Cut saws are only good for softer metals and low volume. If you plan on cutting metal daily, I would highly advise either a band saw OR cold saw, and it is mandatory that they be liquid cooled in order to protect the blade.Read more ›

I've looked / researched many dry cut saws before buying this one. I also watched many U-Tube clips on all the saws, looking for anything I didn't like. This saw is rugged, beefy, and solid. This saw also comes with the sideways "D" handle(not shown),which is very comfortable. I bought the sideways "D" handle model. The vice is heavy duty, which is a big complaint of many other dry cut saws. This vice loosens / tightens useing an on board allen wrench, in a big allen bolt. No cheap tooless vice here. It has a full lengnth chip tray which slides in the back. The motor feels like a soft start motor. The blade guard is two piece, and splits apart as soon as you start to bring the blade down. This allows you to see the blade / material relationship at start of cut. Of all the saws I've researched, this saw is smooth, rugged, and quality all the way. Nothing cheap about the MK Morse dry cut saw.

I gave this saw 5 stars because I've owned and used one for about 7 or 8 years. My first one is a different brand name and model #: Porter Cable Model 1410. Porter Cable no longer sells dry cut saws (but you can still find the Porter Cable branded blades listed to fit their model 1410). There is a brand sold in Australia called the "Fein Slugger" that is almost identical (220 volts only). The Fein still has the "quick adjust vise nut" that my Porter Cable has. It is the only thing I've had problems with. The vise nut only engages the top side of the adjusting screw. You flipped it up to fast slide the adjustment screw in and out. Problem was, after awhile, the threads wear off the flip up nut and then it slips. I had to improvise repairs, but kept using the saw for years. Am really glad to see the quick adjust feature was eliminated. For long term use it was unreliable. I am going to buy a new one of these saws. The one I have still works pretty well, but I cannot afford to be without it. It is the backbone of my small home shop manufacturing business. We wholesale manufacture structural components for a company that markets them worldwide. It is no exaggeration to say that the saw I have now has made thousands and thousands of cuts! Material like 2" schedule 80 heavy wall pipe, heavy angle iron and channel, occasionally some 2" solid square stock (trailer hitch receiver inserts). A typical job is to chop a 21 foot joint of 2" sch. 80 pipe into 5" pieces, that's 50 cuts without interruption! My saw has a set of about 10 or 12 blades that are used on it. These are taken out to be re-sharpened, which can be done about 5 or 6 times. Broken teeth are replaced, and the whole blade gets sharpened. EDIT: After using this saw for a couple of years it began cutting crooked cuts. It now slices to the right resulting in non-90 degree cuts. The adjustment screw does not work to fix the issue. The manufacturer will not respond to email or phone.

This saw replaced an abrasive chop saw. The difference is night and day. The cut takes a fraction of the time it used to, the cut is cool to the touch, and it makes a very clean cut.

I bought this saw for a large project. I probably made around 300 cuts is 14 gauge square tube and 1/4” flat stock. It handled all the cuts I needed it to do. The blade does need sharpening now.

I purchased the V-block to go with the saw. It works well with the saw and I would recommend it.
