Morton's Coarse Kosher Salt has been my go-to seasoning BFF for two years now and there is no going back. We've already planned our vow renewal ceremony for three years from now on our five year anniversary.
This may sound like a miniscule comment but the granule size is exactly what I'm looking for in much of my cooked. Mistakenly I was out of MKS and picked up some fine sea salt and YIKES. Everything I cooked was over-salted and under-salted since I became so used to salting via pinching an amount from my salt bowl.

I purchased this salt to clean my cast iron pans with and it works great. It doesn't dissolve quickly and it is strong enough to get the job done even with caked on messes. The box is big enough to last a while but when I am out I will definitely purchase more.

Okay look I read all the bad reviews saying the box bused open in shipping and ignored them. Then I got my salt and it was busted open in shipping. Yeah the quality of the salt was fine and to be expected but damnit this is not something you should order from amazon if you can help it.

Love to put this on meat prior to cooking. For every half inch of meat, coat it with this salt for 30 minutes. So, if you have 1 inch steak, coat every side for an hour to tenderize! Make sure you wash the salt off then grill and enjoy your tender meat. No matter what the cut, if you do this it will be very tender!

Five stars for the salt (morton’s Coarse kosher is where it’s at). Negative ten stars for packaging. It was shipped in a bag with no padding/support. Sure, the salt itself isn’t breakable, but the box that holds it sure is! The box was ripped edge to edge and the salt was having a party in the bag. I’m super bummed because BOTH of our local groceries have stopped carrying this salt (because they are big ol’ dummies) and this was my next try. Guess it’s back to the drawing board to figure out how to get this salt reliably.

Great for brining food

I have been brining chicken and other poultry in a salt and sugar mix for several years. I first add course Kosher salt and sugar into a few quarts of water and then heat it until boiling. I stir until it is dissolved and then cool it to room temperature. I add the chicken and the brine into a gallon zip-lock bag and store it in the fridge over night. It REALLY adds flavor the what could otherwise be a bland tasting meat.

For some reason salt with iodine in it does not taste very good when used for brining, in my opinion. The price via the Amazon Prime Pantry program was better than at my local grocery store (1.69 for the 3 lb. box at the time of this review.) A staple in my kitchen and I will be adding this to my Prime Pantry box every month.

2 portions of kosher salt equals 1 portion of table salt

Honestly I purchased this salt by mistake. I needed a fine salt but bought this coarse kosher salt accidentally, so I kept it on the shelf for quite a while until two days before Thanksgiving when I needed a lot of salt to season our turkey. I took it out and found it's actually really nice salt. Finer than I thought regular coarse sea salt would be. For a 3 pound pack it costs less than 3 bucks, which is a good deal as well. A quick tip to substitute table salt with kosher salt is 1:2. For instance, if a recipe calls for 2 cups of kosher salt, use 1 cup of table salt instead. If you're converting the other way, use twice as much kosher salt as table salt.

However, since there were no breaks or holes on it and the salt inside was dry, I decided not to return it. I just didn’t like the fact that someone allowed the package to go out for delivery in its condition.
