-VERY thin, I hardly notice that it's installed. Unlike those silicone covers.
-Keyboard lights up clearly, doesn't impede the light at all.
-Takes 2 minutes to get used to. It definitely doesn't feel like a bare keyboard but it doesn't feel like it's a covered keyboard either.
-Kinda pricey for a very thin piece of industrial plastic. The price might be high due to the fact that its molded SPECIFICALLY for macbook keyboards. Because it's an EXACT fit.
-DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT fold or crush this cover. keep the original box if you need to store it away. Unlike silicon this product WILL WRINKLE. I decided to clean mine because it does feel sticky after long term use. I cleaned it with soap and water and i decided to WRING it out. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE. the product had wrinkles that would not disappear. I was too cheap to buy a new one so i have to live with annoying wrinkles.
Other than that..this is hands down the best keyboard cover for macs out there and not a lot of people know about it.
I'd rather not use one, but it keeps me protected. It's like a condom for my Macbook. I love it and hate it.
I have a (different brand) similar keyboard skin on another MBP (mid-2009 17") but this new one is much nicer - much thinner so the typing feels more natural and the keys are easier to read through the skin - it's barely noticeable at all.
Having worked in the tech industry for many years I know firsthand the damage that accumulated dust can do to laptops, even shortening their lifespan, so I have always put keyboard skins on every model I've owned. Yep, it stings to pay so much for a little piece of silicone, but it's worth it in my book if it keeps the interior cleaner, not to mention keeping the keys from getting worn, and I'm honestly impressed with this particular skin.
I will update my review in a month or two after using it, to let you know if I experience any of the other problems some have complained about (discoloration due to heat, etc.). For now, I'm very happy with it.
I have a black KB Cover for my desktop Mac keyboard - it's made of silicone, not plastic, and that makes all the difference. It sticks like glue, but it isn't glue, it just adheres and still is easy to remove, and fits perfectly. I've had it for three years with zero issues. I just don't know if silicone would leave marks on my laptop - or if I'd care if it did.
This cover is the best way to preserve the black keys because after awhile, they will have that "shiny" look.
I bit the bullet and bought the Moshi ClearGuard. No regrets or worries. Got used to it in 60 seconds. My kid can put her paws on my keyboard with no worries (other than to make sure they don't take it off!). $25 to protect a $3100 laptop. Duh.
[UPDATE] It does tend to fall off occasionall if you, like me, put down your laptop on the floor on its side (edge of opened laptop on floor). So.. I came back to get my cover (didn;'t notice I left it behind). An object like a book or something heavy was on top of it! The keyboard took the shape of the heavy object. ARRGHG.. I thought it was ruined. I placed the mashed Moshi keyboard cover on top of my 2000 watt Yamaha receiver for a few days (warm). It returned to its original shape! Like new! Very happy.
