I have many of Dr. Jonny's books, I love them all, and this one is great too. He shares his knowledge about foods and the recipes are simple and very good. If you are new to eating healthier, there is no better guide than Dr. Bowden. He not only knows a great deal, he knows how to share it and make it accessible.

The recipes are fairly simple and quick to prepare, and they taste terrific. I've had the book for 5 days and already made 4 dishes from it. I feel better, not bloated or plagued by hi/low glycemic effects. I actually prefer these versions of popular dishes to the originals. A great buy!

I bought this book in 1868 when Johnny Bowden was still not much more than a skinny kid and came out with the first addition. I'm still alive (and so is Johnny) and can still fit into the uniform I wore when marching into Richmond with General Sherman.

Besides keeping me trim and helping me live longer, the recipes in this book have helped me avoid a number of health problems--such as dementia.

I usually take a couple of recipes as a guide then make up my own with what I have in the kitchen.
I also do not add the sweetener when making these foods. If you don't eat a lot of suger and sweeteners then you taste the sweetness of the fresh vegetables.
The recipes are easy to follow and like I said if you don't have the exact ingredients you can adult.
Even with the pro below I have to give it 5 stars.

Con: the index is horrible. You just can't look up an ingredient or even like 'soup' and get the page numbers of the recipes. The sections are color coded and on the page that list all the recipes I wrote their page number beside them.
I also make me a quick reference in the back, soups, salads, drinks, poultry, seafood etc.
