And she has been in love with their son, Marcus Fitzgerald, the Marquess of Alden, for years. Marcus was allowed to be friends with Ophelia because there weren't any "suitable" children in the area.
Unfortunately, Marcus has been "trying" to end his friendship with Ophelia since he turned 18 seven years ago. I say "trying" because he never really spoke to Ophelia to explain why their friendship was no longer proper. Marcus tries to distance himself but then he gets jealous of seeing her with a new employee, James.
The only thing I found annoying about the storyline was that Marcus kept sending mixed signals to Ophelia and causing her more heartache whenever they "crossed paths" which seemed to be happening a lot when Ophelia and James were together. And then there was the added mystery of nasty letters being sent to the Westdale family about something the Duchess was alleged to have done years ago.
And the big secret and how it plays out was surprising. I know that you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I received an ARC of this ebook from the author. In addition, I bought a copy of the book from Amazon. I am leaving this totally honest review on my own.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
The scenery was detailed, the description where razor sharp.
The characters, they where just a delight to read about and get to know.
I was easily enticed to feel like, I had done some time travel, back in time and was there.
This book really was delightful.
